This graphic novel was such a cool sci-fi concept! It felt like a mix between the movie death race and cyberpunk 2077. Having chugged crush four vials of crush, Dom jumps 2 years into the future. She doesn’t know how or why crush reacts with her body that way. That it doesn’t kill her like everyone else. All she knows is that she’s missed the last two years. Crush is now hunted down and even more illegal then before, her girlfriend has a new girlfriend and her father is leading the hunt for sell...
Yassss! So amazing! This volume is like the Fast and the Furious meets Ocean’s 11 meets Mad Max with a sci-fi twist! Love all the characters, the fast-paced storytelling, and the beautiful, vibrant art!!
High octane action and beautiful art, with an f/f romance at the center. In this volume we find more about Domino's past and upbringing which raises more questions about her origins. The volume is incredibly fast paced and exciting. It was hard to put it down.I will say that the framing device of motorcycle racing is becoming a little bit...tacked on. I'm less interested in the racing than finding out about where Domino came from.(I'm so going to nominate this for next year's Booktube SFF Awards.....
really enjoyed this volume! i love the art style & color usagei appreciated that this volume jumped back in time to give us context to understand the characters more, i wish there was more clarity overall since it still felt all over the placei liked the friendship growth with Dom & Cal minus the weird almost naked scene. mixed feelings on Dom & Lola getting back together but it makes sense / was predictable
really enjoyed this, once again!I do feel like it could have explained a lot more of the story already, instead of just having action scenes but it was pretty entertaining nevertheless. love the art and love Dom and Lola!
4.5I am adoring this series so far!
The protagonist of Motor Crush is not a Mary Sue, but everyone around her sure behaves like she is. Everybody Domino meets is ga-ga for her, despite her treating them like tools to be used in her idiotic plans without considering the dangerous consequences for any of them when those plans inevitably go belly up. It was especially gross when (view spoiler)[Lola's girlfriend-- an awesome, supportive, healthy relationship partner-- is beaten up for Domino's sins and then sends Lola back to Domino b...
1.5 starsI expected so little and was still so let down. The artwork was particularly dissapointing in this volume which made the oversexualized, same-faced characters even more prominent and left me going 'that's not how the human body works' more often than not. The art is very dynamic, but a lot of the fluidity is buried under an oversaturation of pinks and purples. As for the story, the overall concept is good, but the sci-fi elements are not quite working yet.
This gets a bit confusing at times but I LOVE the art style and it's gay and every single character is hot as fuck.
this series is so FRICKIN GOOD in every way imaginable! The characters are amazing, lots of diversity and morally grey things happening. The storyline is kick-ass, quite literally, and is action packed with enough personal storylines. The artwork is GORGEOUS and the style of the futuristic technology is awesome too.Seriously, if you haven't picked this up yet, DO IT.
Again with the SF feel! Motrocrush Vol. 2 had everything I loved about the first - like the SF setting and the character relationships - and just added more intrigue! I love how this second volume focused more on the broad storyline as well as the found family theme. This one also had my heat swooning!
This one felt a little more all over the place than the first volume did...I found it hard to follow. It feels like it wants to be a mix of Fast & The Furious, Mad Max & Moon/Orphan Black all set in a futuristic sci-fi world, but I think it may be trying to mash too many things together. It did hit us hard with yet another cliffhanger though!
Following their time during DC’s New 52 initiative where they were tackling the monthly Batgirl title, the trio that is Brenden Fletcher, Cameron Stewart and Babs Tarr went creator-owned with Motor Crush for Image, a sci-fi action-adventure set in a futuristic city that is defined by motorcycling with the prestigious World Grand Prix and the illegal street race, The Cannonball. It has been one year since the publication of the first volume, which ended with our hero Domino Swift swigging a load
Compared to the first volume, this one fell a little flat for me which is why I'm rating it 3 stars, but I did still really enjoy it a lot and I'm excited to continue on with this series.
3.5 starsThat ending...
Another great volume! We got a few answers about Domino's past and also what is going on in the current timeline, although I still definitely have plenty of questions moving forward. Also I just absolutely love the artwork for this series. The color palette is great and all of the character designs are really fun too [also why is everyone so cute! it should be illegal!]. Can't wait to see where this goes next.
first, WHAT. second, holy shit.i don’t know who gave this series the right to be as good as it is, but i am HERE for it. third, lowkey in love with almost every single character and idk what to do with myself now.cannot wait for the next one 😩💞
This ends on an absolutely brutal cliff-hanger. I am dying to see where the story is going to go now that we know where Domino came from. I'm rather attached to these characters and the story has me completely hooked. The art, colouring, and lettering are all fantastic. This is a fun comic featuring strong women, sexy characters, and a fair bit of violence. It's a thriller of a read and I'm glad that the cover attracted me into picking this series up!
I didn't really like this volume and this was just because of a problem.I don't know if the author wanted to clarify for readers that Domino is bisexual or what, but I didn't like the scene where she and a man are almost naked together in bed and the vibe.Nothing happens, but is this because they were interrupted or eventually Domino would refuse the guy?Anyway, this fanservice didn't please me. There could be another way (if this is the case) of talking about Domino's sexuality without this sce...
Volume 2 picks up where Volume 1 left off ... obviously. Two years have passed and everything in Nova Honda is turned upside down, including it being a city dry of Crush. Honestly, the issues that I had with the first volume are still pretty prevalent in this one - this story has a knack for jumping from plot point to plot point making the story super fast-past and not really flowing very well. Despite that, I just enjoyed this SO much, that I can't NOT give it 5 stars. This story is so freaking
