This was so wild, explosive and effortlessly cool! Dominic Swift is the lead in this cyberpunk comic about racing filled with dark elements and harsh bits. As dangerous as her day life as a motorbike racer is, Dominic's underground night life has double the danger along with gruesome undercurrents because that's where most of the action happens. Navigating between being a rising star and an established badass racer, Dominic recognizes her limits in that she doesn't have any. It's already clearly...
Okay, Domino Swift is my new book girlfriend. She should be yours too. Motor Crush is like The Fast and The Furious and Mad Max movies on steroids. Even better, Domino is a dark-skinned heroine whose totally bad ass. Hmm, cosplay time??? I could do it. Fast bikes, illegal racing with weapons, a diverse cast, a mysterious drug called "Crush" that everyone wants. Issue One was a blast, so I'm looking forward to the next one. Oh, and Happy National Comic Book Day!!!
My friend recommended this to me, and I absolutely fell in love with this series in just the first issue. The art is incredible and the story line features a POC female protagonist who's an absolute bad ass. The narrative is compelling and thoughtful, and the artwork is stunning. I haven't liked a comic this much since Saga
Drugs and violent sports, motorcycle racing.Good color artwork, image freebie. Drugs fuel the world of sports, especially motor cycle racing. Nobody wants to take the drugs, but it's the only way to stay competitive.
I've been dying to finally read this and I am NOT disappointed. I love the work these three people put together and I will read everything. I'm in love with Domino, and the plot, and the colours. I want MORE!!full review here: https://catshelf.wordpress.com/2016/1...
Vaporwave + Outrun + Akira + Mad Max + The WarriorsMy cup of tea, for sure. The comic as a whole seems to arrive fully-formed. The art style is super fresh with great colors and really fleshed out character designs. The world building is interesting, but not too expository. The vernacular dialogue serves the story and world building...Don't have a lot of gripes with this. I'm only giving it four stars because it's the first issue and I'm not sure where it's headed, but the elements I've listed a...
i'm shocked by how good this is so far?!
These comic is based on a girl that need a special medicine to live. These medicine was very detailed created for the girl but one day the test the medicine on the tank of gasoline do the motors faster and more powerful. Riders start using these medicine on races so they win a lot more, also people use them to scape from police stuff like that. All the people start noticing these types of problems so these rare medicine start been ilegal. When these medicine become ilegal there were some bad guy...
Not a lot to talk about, but this was great. Definitely deserving of a four. The futuristic race genre is not technically new, but the coloring, including the watercolor-inspired backgrounds were just a great touch. The main character is exceedingly likable and interesting as well. Definitely on the lookout for more issues of this.
Pretty interesting premise here. The protagonist Domino is an extreme motorcycle racer that races sanctioned tracks by day while competing in illegal street races at night. The street races are for some kind of drug called "crush" that evidently most racers are addicted to. Those races also feature competitors knocking each other off the bikes in Road Rash type fashion (shoutout my old school gamers who know what Road Rash is). Domino gets herself in a bind after her stash of Crush gets stolen a...
Not really my subject (motorcycle racing, bit o sci fi drugging going on), but absolutely gorgeous art.
The artwork is gorgeous, the storyline is very interesting, and the ending is something that I did NOT expect. I’m also very fascinated by Domino and want to learn more about her.
What a fresh surprise. I came to Motor Crush with some skepticism, but right from the start I found it to be a cool, imaginative story with twists and surprises throughout. Domino Swift is hoping to make it big racing her motorbike in the World Grand Prix, her dad, Sully, having been a well-known pro himself. But the sport is tainted by a doping scheme that puts Lance Armstrong's controversies to shame - Crush. Crush is a drug apparently fed into bikes, increasing their speed. It's risky and som...
The story line is not really my cup of tea. I did like the art but maybe not enough to keep on reading. We'll shall see.
Babs art is awesome, story and character are great.
So this is the first comic I've ever read. I decided on this one as I love Motorbike racing especially street racing. I found the detail in the artwork amazing so much so I've gone back a second time to soak up all the little details. The plot of the comic sounds amazing, I love how the story progresses in such a short period of time while also giving you an introduction to some of the main characters. I thought it would end in a completely different way from how it did which I found delightful.L...
BOOM. Nailed it. With the creative trio of this book doing a pretty splendid job of counting down to its arrival via their various social media channels, my, and I presume many others, expectations were pretty sky-high.And boy did they deliver on everything that was promised. Brilliantly realized characters, frenetic high-speed racing and chase sequences and a world that seamlessly blends science-fiction with urban realism. The star of the show, Domino, is the main draw here, occupying the major...
Pure perfection. There are just so many things I love about this. The main character is a young black female (like myself), she's independent AND tearing up a male-dominated field! The artwork is phenomenal, and usually when I read graphic novels I just wait for the volumes to come out, but I think I'm going to be collecting the issue from now on!
This was a lot more violent than I thought it would be, but it was still super fantastic. Original and wonderful story and characters. Definitely want to continue this.
Interesting start - we’ll see where it goes.
