Salem (the Trailer Park Princess) is parked at a drive-in restaurant when the garbage truck comes to dump the trash bin and Salem sees a naked body fall from the bin into the truck. So, of course, she follows the truck and calls the police--and wants to get involved in the investigation. From there things get sillier and sillier in her attempts (with her geriatric friend Viv and the garbage truck driver "helping") to find the killer before the police do. Along the way there are burritos and prai...
It made me laugh out loud! There are probably worse things in life than being named after your Mom’s favorite cigarette but Salem Grimes is pretty sure it illustrates that where her Mom is concerned Salem rates somewhere below a cigarette. Her whole life has been disfunction and chaos and even though she is staying sober and trying to get her life in some kind of order, she did not need to find another body and get involved in another murder case. Of course, to her best octogenarian friend Viv m...
Salem Grimes is an amateur private investigator working with her elderly best friend, Viv. She sees a dead body when she was out at Sonic getting a cheeseburger. She and Viv want to keep busy, so they decided (along with their new pain-in-the-butt-friend, Dale) they should investigate. This book was so funny. There were a couple parts that made me laugh out loud. There was a mention of "Broccoli Butt-Crack" and another part involving shapewear that was all too real to me. Also, struggling with w...
Initially, I was liking this story, now? I'm not that sure about it, I hate, HATE, that the author left the kiss with Bobby to drift away. I honestly think that Tony and Salem are better as friends than as a couple and that she is better off with Bobby. I'm really starting to feel torn about this, because as a cozy mystery is not that good, as a romance is awful and as personal growth/religious book I think they need more substance and a different plot to attract a different type of readers.
I was given a free copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving this review. Unsightly Bulges, by Kim Hunt Harris, is book two in the Trailer Park Princess series. It picks up three months later from book one. I continue to enjoy this series and am looking forward to book three. There are good lessons regarding life, every day struggles, and faith. The main character has real conversations with herself about her faith, her struggles with weight, and life in general. Sometimes it’s hard to rea...
Wonderful wonderful!!!!!This is hilarious read with a lot of real and serious conditions. I laughed out loud reading this book. I especially enjoyed Carl...he was a hoot. And I love the doggy barbershop. Viva is too much but I had aunts that I dearly loved that could fill that role.
Not quite as funny as the first one but still her prayers and weight loss issues were very real and humorous. The main subject was just a bit too serious and hated the haters. Still love her dog! Took me a while to finish as I wasn’t riveted- maybe just too formula.
Salem Grimes has a definite problem with weight--hers. That does not stop her from trying to find the person or persons who put a dead body into a dumpster. At least it stopped her from eating a greasy---BUT it also picked up a definitely crazy dump trunk driver who decided he was going to help Salem and her BFF hunt down the killer! There are many sections that will make you groan and occasionally laugh as Salem tries to outwit herself on eating--and trying not to be jealous of everyone around h...
Hilarious bookI enjoyed this book because it had me laughing out loud. Salem's attempt to solve a murder with her friend Viv provides lots of fun. I liked her trying to diet when surrounded by temptations. The characters were vibrant and convincing, as well as working together.
Good readOnce again, the ladies are doing the PI thing. Attempting to solve a murder. Also, while living regular life. Working at the groomers, seeing Tony and all sorts of other things.
Well looks like Salem found another dead body. So her and her elderly friend Vi decided to investigate. They friend a young man who also helped them annoying as he was. The humorous parts where the rooster fights and the prairie dog meeting. The reason I only gave it 3 stars for this book is just my opinion . I didnt care for the ending as to who killed the man and the reason behind it all. I usually figure out who the murderer is but this time I had no idea - fooled me LOL
Really Fun ReadReally fun read of a truly messed up heroine. She stops drinking, and begins to prayer. Has a dog that can't be alone without her. Really fun and insightful story. Looking forward to the next one. Can't wait to see what happens with Dale, Viv and Salem. I would love to see her get her HEA. And since she solved the murder, doesn't she get that $20, 000?
A few weeks ago, I came across my review of the first book in this series, and I remembered how much I liked it. Then the author offered an audio review copy, and I jumped at the chance to visit Salem, Stump, and Viv again. So disclaimer right now: I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.Right then...We start with Salem cheating on her diet at Sonic where she observes a naked dead body in the dumpster as the trash is being picked up. Then S...
I really enjoyed the first book, but this one missed the mark for me. It was too preachy and about a subject that is close to my heart as I am the godparent of a child going through this. It was still a good read with characters to love and well written plot. I will definitely read the next one, and I highly recommend the book if you like Christian cozy mysteries. Laugh, cry, and fall in love with these characters!Unsightly Bulges, by Kim Hunt Harris, is a masterful blend of humor, mystery, and faith. You can’t just read a Trailer Park Princess novel – you inhabit it. You become immersed in the characters, the mystery and the story
Another crazy adventure for the trailer park princess Salem is back for another adventure after watching a body fall out of a dumpster at her local Sonic. She, stump. and Viv take off with a new sidekick
I enjoyed this book. This is a very serious subject (hate crimes and things people do because of there prejudices) but the author covered it nicely in this fun cozy mystery and it worked well as a plot. The main reason it worked is because of all the great characters and the fact that the author broke it up with moments of humour and high jinks, even the police detective got in on the act. I love the fact that Salem isn't perfect, as this makes her down to earth and like able. I also love her jo...
This series makes me laugh, but it also presents "real issues" and makes me think about them. I have "been there" with dieting and not liking how I look, and I can "relate" to all the feelings and thoughts Salem expresses. I have addiction issues, too ... not exactly the same as Salem's, but close enough ... so this series "speaks to me" ... yet it doesn't "preach" ... this book (like all the others in this series) is fun to read and light-hearted, while addressing serious problems. Recommended!...
Great story! Our trailer park princess and her friends investigate the murder if a man found in a dumpster. Salem is a chubby, recovering alcoholic and budding Christian who is the most real protagonist you will ever meet. And somehow through it all she is also funny, funny, funny!
Nice Christian MysteryThe mystery was good. And I like the two main characters, Salem and Viv. If you are a devout Christian, you will love this book, and I rated it accordingly. I, however, do not believe in some of the things said so this ends my journey with this series.
