Wow, this was really bad. I'm embarrassed on behalf of France as a whole.
It gaves me the chills so much that I couldn’t sleep without checking if there’s no one in the house
Well this was pretty brutal, a good read though, I'll definitely look for more books from this author.
I liked this book like other Grangé's books. But it has wrong information about Turkish culture and people but it is not a information book so that is okay
This was a gripping read, maybe not a literally strong book but the plot is intriguing and it's definitely a page turner with a few shockers!
The fiction is amazing. The story ends up in one of the most beautiful places in İStanbul. The caracters are pretty admirable.
3.5 stars! Jean-Christophe Grangé is a great author and I have already read several of his books with great pleasure. I have read most of them in French and I must say that I prefer the French original to the German translations. While Das Imperium der Wölfe is one of his most known books, I enjoyed other (less-known) books better. Nevertheless, the story has been very interesting and I was hooked all the time. The plot was fast paced and intriguing, but I somehow wasn't able to feel a strong co...
I put this book on hold from the library not because I knew what it was about or that it had been recommended to me, but because I knew that they’d made a movie out of it…and the movie was French. I have a soft spot for French movies . But because the movie isn’t available at my library, I had to read the book first. And now, I have a soft spot for French books.I haven’t read a book in years that has captured my attention so well. From the very first sentence, I was hooked. For the first… twelve...
It is actually strange book and it is the first book that read which most things are about my country. Thats why it was a different experience for me.
It has been years since I read this book but I still remember the plot and characters in detail. This book started off very interesting for me; the main character suffers from partial amnesia, she forgets his husbands face but no-one elses. I was instantly pulled in and could not put this book down first. Writing is graphic and detailed, which I enjoyed. Too bad the ending was, in my opinion, terrible. I want to like this book more than I do, this had so much potential but the ending was boring
First off, this is not a werewolf story, which is what I had thought it was from the title. It is a French novel about a 31-year-old woman in Paris who is having issues with her memory. Known faces were becoming unfamiliar. Most alarmingly, she feels as if she does not recognize her own husband, a muckety muck in the local constabulary. Brought to a familiar doctor, she begins to feel paranoid, as if the doc and husband are somehow not looking after her best interests. One thing leads to another...
There are too many details about moments and descriptions. Probably he thought about his book perhaps be pretty much on these way but no. Because too many sentences for descriptions. The books Gets tired quickly. But I liked generally. Also I want to say we Turks don't bad persons as he has showed via his book hahaha!
Great story, although approximately 60% of it was completely predictable, the book did not cease to amaze me with its twists. Grange's knowledge about Turkish right-wing extremists is also impressive. P.S. İsmail Kutsi and Azer Akarca are fictitious names. Sorry for the disappointment.
The publisher’s description of the novel is one of great promise: “From the murky night streets of clandestine Paris to the teeming fleshpot of Istanbul, two bizarre and terrible stories will become one -- as prey and predator, manipulated and manipulator come together in a storm of blood and fury . . . in the hideous shadow of the wolf.” The “terrible story” is about Anna, who is suffering from amnesia, and manipulation by her husband, and his colleagues. She enlists the help of a psychiatrist
Someone please help me ...Through the first 100 pages I had the distinct feeling I had read this before, possibly with a few minor variations. As usual for Jean-Christophe Grangé , the build-up is strong. We meet some interesting characters, though quite stereotyped, and are thrown into the fire right away.Slowly what you think is the plot is unveiled and you begin guessing in what direction this will turn. My bet is your guess is as wrong as mine because the story sidetracks a few times. Unfort...
Grangé is the new GRR Martin.
Really a page turner. Listened to the German audio book and liked the narrator. Fast paced story, interesting plot, but I didn't like the ending. It came quite fast and wasn't "satisfying" at all. But nevertheless a very good Grangé.
Boy oh boy... where to start..Just a heads up, contains spoilers.Let's start with what was good about this book: it is an easy read and plot is sometimes intriguing. That's about it.Now the real staff:1. Way too many coincidences, it really lost any touch with reality. The girl who (unwillingly) went through super experimental operation is the same girl that grey wolves are after. The detective working on this case is the same person whom she screwed over. And what was all that part with Azeri (...
Not bad. But not good.
Perfect!! <3
