The best book i have ever read in its genre. A state of art from Grange.
The writing is brilliant full of suspense with twists and turns. Well developed characters, overall an excellent thriller. Recommended without a doubt.
It was my first time reading Grange and he takes us on a journey from Europe to Turkey, Isreal, Africa and India. The story follows Louis who is hired by Max Böhm to find out what happened to the missing storks who did not migrate back. The storks take Louis to various countries to solve two mysteries : (view spoiler)[ (involving missing hearts and diamonds.) (hide spoiler)] I enjoyed the book, the mysteries were built very well and it was very thrilling. It was also very clear that the author
great debut novel! and i think it's still his best novel today. A young man, Lois Antioche is hired by a scientist to follow the seasonal flight routes of storks. at first it seamed like his dream job, traveling around and not doing much really. with but his dream job turns to nightmare quickly. with his employers' sudden death, he is drawn to dark world of smugglers and illegal organ harvesters. and Lois has some past demons to deal with too
Except for the end, it was great and ingenious. The end was clumsy.
Good fiction and exciting final... It was very Grangély
I actually read this ages ago in Chinese, interesting to read it again in English. It was after I saw the movie Crimson Rivers, which was a French movie adapted from another of the author's works. The book was translated into Chinese and published and I read and loved it, thus ending up collecting and reading most of the Chinese version of his books.I was also young and impressionable at the time.Re-reading it was a lot more interesting, knowing what I know now.I chalk that up to personal growth,...
interesting yet very much predictable
I NEVER READ ANYTHING LIKE THAT. I AM DEAD. LITERALLY JUST DEAD. MR. GRANGÉ HOW GREAT THINKEROMG I THINK IM IN SHOCK SBT
Brilliant book and really nailbiting. Great storytelling. One of the best modern thrillers ever!
Very good as alwaysVery good story. As always. Surprising ending. Good. Very good. Please read it. Promise you won't be disappointed. Two more words.
I read the english version. It took me a while to finish.. first to middle parts are rather slow and a little hard for me to get into.. but I didnt skim any pages because I know, things will be revealed at the last part. And it did. The last 50 pages or so went by pretty quickly because a lot of exciting things happened. Overall, good read.
Great, love this book. Reread many times
Very few thrillers manage to grasp my attention and keep me on the edge of my seat until the very end, but this was one of them. I loved how original the story was, and I enjoyed the abundance of plot twists.
(I missed my stop a few times when going home from work on the tube - that’s exactly how taken by the book you become when reading “The flight of the storks” This was my first ever Thriller and I must say it was the best choice to start adoring them with! The whole story was nowhere near pretty - which I am not very used to, but I was completely swallowed by the book. I highly recommend reading this to everyone.
Smelled the plot twist halfway through (it was a good plot twist tho), again SO unnecessarily gore, and not realistic. Women written by a man.. I thought this book would be just a small mystery about birds, it has now scarred me. SO violent AND FOR WHAT. How are we reading this for school??? So much human slaughterings and blood and there’s even a long ass description of a 15 years old girl’s shredded body.
I am sure that much of the material in this book comes from Grangé's journalistic experience. He has probably seen much of the vignette's he includes in this international thriller. His focus is on the dark and evil and it seems unrelenting. Too intense for me. I won't be looking for more from him.
I read this book when I was 16 or 17 and I remember loving it. Twelve years after reading it I still remember it vividly. Highly recommended.(Please be aware it's very explicit with lots of violence and sexual scenes).
Very impressive story
this horrible book doesn't even deserve a star
