Sometimes I feel like I read short stories the wrong way. Instead of savouring each one and giving it time, I cram them in greedily, which sometimes makes them blur into each other. However, I do find that often phrases and ideas stick with me long after I've read them, so I must be taking something in! There was a huge variety of speculative fiction in here, with some really well constructed short stories and imaginative worlds and characters. Very enjoyable.
Generally pretty good and very big anthology, although there were some stinkers.
This is a great idea for an anthology and I'm glad so many of the potential candidates for this year's award were able to participate. What an enormous book this would have been if all had done so! Authors whose stories I particularly liked were David Carani, Thoraiya Dyer, Sarah Frost, Damien Walters Grintalis, Grayson Bray Morris, Cory Skerry, and of course Mur Lafferty (the story Random Fire from Van Allen Hughes also stands out but I won't comment further - spoilers, sweetie!), but there's a...
A really enjoyable collection, although not all were to my taste. High quality and a good mix of entertainment, thought-provoking situations and a good few cries of EW!
