The wonderful, hilarious and sad story of Martin O'Boy, who is about 11 or 12 at the end of World War II in Lowertown, Ontario. Crammed full of great characters, and wonderful events, it is mostly the story of Martin and his best friend's abuse at the hands of the choir master at church...but really, so very much more than that. Totally wonderful, funny and lovely!

If kids grew up absurd in the sixties, they grew up largely unnoticed, unheeded and unrespected right after the War.
