Good Book. Was a little caught off guard by all the troubles that children had to go those in the early 1900's. The struggle to help support a family as a child and the breaks that sometimes some people get in their lives.
I read this book after my grade 7 son was assigned it to read for class. He complained that it wasn't very good, and I wanted to see if he had a point. Turns out, he did. The main character in the book is a grade 9 boy, but the story is written as though by a grade 5 student. I couldn't tell if I was meant to be reading from the perspective of a character who is meant to be developmentally delayed, or if that's just how he came off.
