Barely thereAlthough I still like the characters well-enough, this book was a bit of a dud. The mystery wasn’t much of a mystery so much as it was an excuse to send the characters to Faerie where readers are introduced to the Unseelie Queen and her right hand. Ultimately, not much happens and the book ends on a cliffhanger.
goodI like this book just like the first one, but it did take me a little bit of reading to remember things about the characters from the first book in the series. Tempe I did end up going to Faye to try to figure out what was so important about the dead bodies that’ a killer left behind. She ended up going with Corbin as is pet. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the queen believed that ruse. Corbin finally realized his feelings towards Tempi and I think she might realize her feelings towards him.
What an interesting ride these two take us on. I liked and enjoyed the book a lot, it was a great read. The world building was just right, not too much as some can do but enough for you to see and feel everything. Tempie and Corbin make a great pair both working and will obviously be even better together as more. There's definitely plenty of action to stop you getting bored and I look forward to the next book but I don't really like such big cliffhangers if I'm honest, other than that it's a gre...
I found myself skimming this book in the last few chapters just to get it over with. The editing was not great. There were many inconsistencies. Tempie would be talking to Corbin in person and then it would say they were on the phone or she would arrive somewhere on her bike but next thing you know she’s in his car. It’s jarring. She dropped her magic gun and never retrieved it. I know this is a fantasy book but that kind of stuff took me out of the story.
BoringMehhh. I couldn't get myself to finish the last 20% or so. Im just not truly understanding our H. she is all about running into danger, helping cobin, yet doesn't want romance with him because that's to dangerous? What??? She all but explains to her grandmother, yes Im a complete mess running into situations I have no place running into because it really will out me And I'll end up in a place worse then death. But at least im not dating the unseelie guy? Her thinking and rationality is jus...
Wow, I gotta say Lindsey Devin really doesn't know how to start a novel. The last one started with a defunct bathtub. This one is a broken coffee maker? So boring!!! And the series is THE OPPOSITE of boring! I recommend just skipping the first chapter altogether. There was much more Fae stuff this time which is always fun. Fantasy political intrigue is a staple with them. Another criminal investigation with a fairly predictable twist. Also, Tempie gets a horse! Fortunately, her nana has a barn in...
wovenUnlike book 1, this one ends in a cliffhanger. Instead of a stand alone story that can be wrapped up in one book, despite an over arcing series plot, this one really digs deep into that meta plot and focuses on it. I appropriate that - because while the author could introduce more cases for these characters to play with, it suits the meta plot to advance - and that means it’s time to get to THAT story.
This was a great addition to the series thanks to the well written story line which was engaging and kept me reading from start to finish. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
major cliffhangers While I do enjoy the story and very interesting plot line….I don’t like cliffhangers especially major ones like this. Will buy next book
well this was interesting I had my ups and downs about this one. I had a great time with the first book and enjoyed the ups and downs there, but Tempie is testing some boundaries and I’m not entirely sure I’m cool with the boundaries she’s okay with keeping up. But I do appreciate that the author first has her go through everything logically before setting her on a path. It usually irritates me when characters do things without thinking them through. I like the story. Corbin is a good guy. The s...
The gig is up, she’s gotten one bounty, but she wants more….When the fae partner, she wants to hate, asks her to join him on another case, she’s in…..no real hesitation for Tempie. She knows it’s not smart, but she wants more than the life she’s been living. Both of these two are learning that they’re half bloods of rare toes that not only work well together, they like it. The characters are fun, the action keeps things moving, and the little thrill they give each other makes it worth the risk f...
