Loved it!And just where was this little gem of a book hiding on its release day? I came across it thanks to Veronica Scott’s weekly Wednesday list of new releases.I adored this book. It was fresh and exciting! Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the humor. (Especially where Bask gets introduced to a human mouth 🤓) Omg...the tension between McKenna and Bask was so palpable. I see that book 2 is due out in April, so that makes me happy. Book 1 was definitely set up so the supporting characters could...
McKenna, an Earth scientist, is a feisty, sassy woman on an all-female ship that was fired on and crashes. McKenna has basically been hiding out from an abusive ex while she worked on board the ship in an effort to identify and resolve Earth reproductive issues. Bask, a banished alien prince of Phyrria, and his crew were able to rescue McKenna, and he feels a strong connection to her. This was Bask’s first experience with a human and he becomes very protective. But with her past bad experience,
Emotional turmoilI am a little on the fence about this story. Mainly, because of the characters. I didn’t really feel like I was apart of the story. I didn’t feel the emotion that the characters felt because honestly the MC McKenna seemed self centered because of her ex. I get it but I didn’t feel anything except annoyance. However I did like them together. Like I said I’m on the fence.
Loved it!I loved it! However, what got me curious was the use of a stick where the world is frozen over.... and no trees... No explanation as to how it got there?
I loved this book. A first for me from this author but I will be looking for more. Bask is trying so hard to go against instincts and be better than the world he was born into. He sees a body out in the expanse of space, despite knowing the rules of no human contact, he still goes out of his ship to save them, not them, her. McKenna was escaping a controlling man on Earth, he had traced her to the ship she was on and not long after that the ship was damaged. She wakes up to Bask keeping her warm...
Thoroughly enjoyed this tale. Great characters and great story. This tells the tale of an alien and his crew; isolated and banished from his home planet. Bask is dreading making a delivery to said old home. Also in space is an all female human crewed ship. On board is the scientist McKenna, hoping and praying her dominating and nasty X cannot trace her. Their ship is hit and possibly destroyed. You don't really know and have to hope any that survived will appear in future books. (I hope!)She is
This is another great author I read this week. Saw the storyline on Booksprout and I like how the story sounded so I downloaded it. This is the first book that this author has written and I loved it. McKenna was an awesome character who is pretty sassy. Bask and his crew rescue McKenna after their ship is hit and crashes. This is Bask's first encounter with a human female. Their connection with each other grows when they can communicate. There is humor and steam. (Not just from his fingertips ei...
This book had a lot of action right from the start. This is the story of two people that do not understand each other but are still drawn to each other. Even with being in love they still have misunderstandings. There is a lot of action and danger in their lives. I am looking forward to reading more books from this author.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Nice idea, but badly executedThe book would have been better, if the heroine was not in the picture. First of all she did not let him finish his speech and constantly interrupts and run away so she will not deal and ask questions to get what is going on. second she does not know anything for their customs, etc, but continues with her stubbornness to expect everywhere works like Earth( which needs more detail )
3.5 maybe closer to a 4 but the ending kind of crashed for me. I thought the wrap up was rushed with this society. They talk to this one elder lady for what amounts to days and are then ready to just throw out what/how they have been living for years. Maybe if we as readers were more involved with those conversations it would have felt more authentic BUT I think even then it would not. There was just too big of a leap from, enslave the men to lets take off all their collars and reinstate you as
Confusing I felt as if this story didn’t know what it wanted to be. McKenna is a scientist, but we don’t get much science stuff at all. She’s rescued by aliens but has no scientific interest in any of it.Bask is an ousted King, banished by the females of his planet because all the males were too aggressive or something like that.Very little in the book made sense to me. McKenna was pretty much a shrew from her rescue to the middle of the book. She was resentful of being saved without her permiss...
Catch her as she goes byBask sees a human girl floating in dark space. It looks as if she was ejected from a ship. So, Bask retived her and she was was so cold. Bask has a hot body and he uses his warmth to warm the human. But it is illegal to have Anything to do with humans. He should have let her freeze and float away in space. But he doesn't do that. And that is the beginning of the reconstruction of his home planet. They get shipwrecked on a frozen planet. His home planet that he was exiled
I’ve been reading new authors lately and I came upon this one. I took a chance I would enjoy it and boy, what a read! Excellent plot development and characters just jumped from the pages into my heart! Bask is an exiled alien prince of Phyrria...McKenna is an earth scientist who is trying to solve earth’s reproductive issues as well as escaping an abusive ex. Fire literally manifested at their meeting and the steam seeps off the pages. I can’t wait to read about Vale with is next to be released....
He is an exiled prince of his people and she is a human fertility scientist. Earth is under a no contact treaty, that he breaks to save her from dying when her ship collides with an astroid. This is a human meets alien romance that has a great plot, fun characters and plenty of emotion and steam. it was a great read!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
