Since they were kids, Edie, Jake and Ryan have been the closest of friends. It's been the three of them against the world. Edie thought the bonds between them were unbreakable. So when Jake is brutally murdered and Ryan accused of the crime, her world is shattered.Part of the excellent Quick Reads series, this is a decent mystery thriller from Paula Hawkins that makes excellent use of limited locations, a minimal cast and the Edinburgh locations (plus atmospheric rain and storms). Fab little story …. Part of the quick reads collection I read this in under an hour. Edie, Ryan and Jake have been friends forever, in the opening page Ryan Is stood over Jake’s body with the murder weapon in his hand, he claims he has nothing to do with it. Who do you believe?
I had high expectations for this book, after reading the girl on the train and absolutely loving it. And up until around the 90 page mark I was only going to rate it about 3⭐️.Okay so this book is about 3 child hood friends. Two who married each other and the other who stayed their best friend. Although one of them (the best friend) is framed for murdering one of them (the husband). However, throughout the book we find out some very un expected things, and see all is not as it seems.Without spoi...
Really enjoyed this one
Up until the the end I was going to rate this 3 stars but I really liked the way it ended.
absolutely brilliant for a short story it really had me feeling for the characters and getting invested in their story
Did not anticipate that ending at all, I’m kind of annoyed with the ending too I was rooting for Edie
Great short story.
Brilliant! A story with a start, middle and an end in 120 pages. Exactly what I needed, would definitely recommend it to anyone struggling to read at the moment. Going to try a couple more of the quick reads.
Originality -25Blind Spot is Paula Hawkins’ latest book. Paula Hawkins is the author of The Girl on The Train and A Slow Fire Burning (both of which I loved!).Blind Spot centers on a trio of friends: Edie, Jake, and Ryan. However, when Ryan stops by for his weekly run, someone has murdered Jake. Who did it?The GoodThis book has a price printed on the cover of 1 pound. How did I obtain this book in the United States? Good question. I purchased this book online for $3.24 from Book Depository. Book...
It's just dry! It seriously needed few layer of narration. Felt more like a summary than an actual story. What a shame, cause It's probably the best plot of her. and she did such a careless job tidying it up. Last 10 page or so is just mess.
A tense, gripping, twisted atmospheric read, although I would be blind to not notice its flaws. It can be melodramatic and cliched, including over-the-top lightning used for dramatic effect. It is very much a Paula Hawkins story, with what is typical of her characters, themes and feelings, for better or worse. Also, one of the twists in the ending, made me go urgh, as it deals with a familiar, but unwelcome troupe (view spoiler)[Having the antagonist be revealed to have been previously sectioned
Absolutely dire. Ludicrous storyline. Until the halfway point I was thinking it about a three, then the first chapter of part two descended into farce. By the epilogue it was embarrassingly bad. I know it's only a short story but her first two books were so good. A shame.
Great short story, loved the ending and last 10 or so pages. I don’t think it warrants anything higher than a 3-star but quick to read and a bit thrilling with a murder mystery angle.
Needed to get my reading mojo back on track with life being a bit hectic lately and not having as much time to read but definitely sorting that out! Starting with this short read from Paula Hawkins as part of the Quick Reads series.'Blind Spot' introduces us to three friends, Edie, Jake & Ryan, who have been inseparable since childhood. It has always been the three of them against the world, Edie and Jake even got married after being childhood sweethearts. So when Jake is brutally murdered with
From the bestselling author of The Girl on the Train comes a brilliant, short quickread at 120 pages. Perfect for me right now with a 9 day old newborn. I really enjoyed this was gripped from the first line. Kept me guessing and doubting the characters throughout. The story focuses on three main characters Edie, Jake and Ryan who has been long term friends for ages. But from the start Jake is dead. Why? How? Who? An unexpected outcome that relates to their teenage years and a brilliant epilogue....
Rating: 3.5/5A well-executed short story. There is a real skill in being able to compose a fully rounded story in such a short format and this contribution to the "Quick Reads" series from Paula Hawkins is a decent example. It is neatly structured, has some pleasing plot developments, is well-paced and holds the attention of the reader.Well worth a read. and a nice addition to the commendable Quick Reads series.
An excellent quick read. What a twist at the end.I loved it.
3.5 rounded up
Edie, her husband Jake and best friend Ryan have been inseparable since childhood - their friendship was a bond like no other, they thought it was unbreakable. Until Jake is brutally murdered, and Ryan is accused of the murder leaving Edie lost and alone in the house once full of life. But someone from the past has been waiting out of sight for their lives to fall apart - so they can finally have their turn. As you'd expect from Hawkins, this was a tense, twisty, stomach-punch of a story. Creati...
