I found it most interesting to read this as I am an American. I have some cursory financial knowledge of our nation's policies, and it was amusing to see how much things differ across the pond. (I knew going in, but in case a future potential reader does not, Hawkins is British.)I applaud the attempt to appeal to the Sex and the City crowd. It worked about 80% of the time I'd say. Clearly, i love this book to read & after reading i get to more confession about the money goddness.
Would seriously recommend this to anyone! Gives a really good overview of all areas of personal finance. Some bits are probably a little bit dated as it was published a year before recession, but the advice is great and and pitched at the perfect level. Seriously considering searching for a better bank current account now and have a better idea of what to consider with investing money and thinking about pensions and buying a house.
