While I continue to enjoy this series, certain aspects detract from the book in my mind:Everyone is perfect - no one makes any real mistakes and everyone acts calm and reasoned. Catie especially is becoming annoying in my mind in this way, a bit of a Superman like character. This book is a fun read, but lacks any real tension.I did enjoy the colonization effort and the political things which happen related to that, quite believable.
Double down on troubleWelp, who said things would be easy establishing world peace and then starting two interstellar colonies. Though, you have to admit, when it's all said and done, things aren't quite as bad as they could have been. That said, fun story. I'm really enjoying getting to see Catie grow up and develope as a character. Looking forward to the next story!
I do so hate giving 5 stars! As a rule I never give perfect scores. However, despite the characters almost always being a little too perfect, the pace of the story, the overall development of the story, and the attention to detail still out this at the top of the range for this type of fiction. One could wish the books were longer, but this kind of production is what the Amazon unlimited scheme is about.I am glad to see another author working, and doing, well.To anyone contemplating the series, yo...
Exciting!Exciting and fun to read about Catie at the academy. I thought for sure she would blow her cover but so far she is doing OK. Plus Marc and Samantha are now on the planet Artemis which is way cool. Have been loving reading this book and can't wait to dig into the next one.
Good read. This was a little different than the other books with Catie not sure how to spell her name but with her away and they are just starting to get the new planets up and running they are having their own little problems let alone the alien space ship is coming at them and they don't have a plan yet. On to the next one .
Good book and waiting for the next oneGood book. Interesting turn of events. No space battles in this one but setup of a colony on a planet with the challenges on that. Waiting to see what happens next.
The series keeps its momentumThe adventures and challenges continue to entertain and the plot is fascinating and thought provoking. Great anticipation for the next book and the coming threat to the colonies.
I enjoyed the book, which was easy to read, but too much of the book was meetings, often going over the same ground or just choosing new employees. I wasn't impressed with the Academy stuff, although I would have liked more of Catie, just not in the academy. However I would probably still have given 4 stars. Having said that, there were a couple of things that annoyed me about the book. First Marc knows there is an aggressive alien spaceship on the way, yet they don’t seem to be doing anything t...
Good world building, not enough action in the book, good use of characters.First of all I enjoyed the artificial intelligence ADI, I think she should be used more. I’m happy to see in this book that there was more character development with Mark since he was supposed to be the main protagonist in the series. The author gave time for additional characters in the series to develop somewhat, it was not all centered around Katie. Don’t get me wrong, like I said in an earlier review Katie is a joy. B...
Up to now have really enjoyed this series, however found this book something of a disappointment. The problem being not a lot happens to move the story along, it feels like a placeholder. It's not badly written and is up to the authors usual standard. It's made of many parts. The hero's daughter goes to military academy and faces the usual challenges of trying not to stand out and be a good cadet handle bullying etc. This sort of tale I will admit personally does not float my boat and for me was...
It’s goodThese books are most definitely not master works of art, and leave a lot to be desired as far as descriptive language goes - most of the book reads like a list of events or sentences rather than a story - but damn if it isn’t still interesting, exciting, and some damn good wish fulfillment. I’m rating five stars because (amazons review system is crap, and) it helps the author, and I want him to keep publishing, but in reality my rating is 3 stars for overall quality, and 4 stars for my
