Update! Here's my full review: https://bookishrealmreviews.blogspot....This!!! I’m so glad that I found this comic! It was so good and it’s only the first issue. I ADORED BB as a main character and I really feel for all the stuff she has to deal with in her family. I love that this comic also recognizes and celebrates LGBT teens. I think that BB may identify as gender queer. It’s not quite clear just yet. I feel like it’s going to be interesting as the author begins to explore her relationship w...
loved this first issue! gave me locatora radio vibes! 💗✸ instagram ✸ #mostlybooksandcoffee ✸
- Beautiful art - Interesting premise- A lot of fascinating worldbuilding in this first issue - Lovable characters
"Alright, everybody, if you’re looking for a comic series that celebrates LGBT children and everything they can give to this world, you’ve got to check out b. b. free #1. Enter b.b.: she’s just a fifteen-year-old girl who desperately wants to be free—free to be who and what she is, without any shame. Or without being told to “be a good girl”. All b.b. really wants to do is be able to travel the country—as broken as it is—and broadcast her free radio station, one that is as cheerful and free as s...
For starters the art was really beautiful. The world surrounding our main character looked amazing and was so intriguing. However the story just didn’t meld with me. It felt like the story just didn’t make the right first move to keep me interested. Not sure if I will continue or not.
Loved it, want more. Kk, thanx!
While Dunlap's art has some of the most beautiful palettes and designs I've ever seen in a comic, I wasn't completely sold on the story. This first issue attempts to deliver a LOT of big picture worldbuilding but I was more interested in b.b. Free's immediate surroundings. Why does she have a pet alligator? What is an amigx? What exactly is her father's place in the community? Unfortunately, much of the comic leaves these essential questions unanswered and ended up feeling like a history lecture...
Loved Dunlap's art style and color schemes. The story looks promising. Some of bb's angst looks like misplaced teen stuff and some of it looks like it comes from her family situation. I like bb and Chulita's camaraderie. Looking forward to the reveals.
Reactionary dads suck! Teenage girls rule! This art was dope I loved the colors
Gorgeous artwork and I loved the focus on friendship. I need to know more about this world!
this sucks but the artwork is pretty!
Gorgeous art! Super interesting premise. Loved what I have seen so far with this first volume. There is just enough intrigue to keep me hooked! I can't wait to see what happens next!
Well this was a little interesting to say the least. I'm still not sure how I feel about it if I'm honest. It was only 25 pages long so very short but what I read was good. I think it was over before it even began for me, there are more volumes in this series so at least I'm not left wondering what if. So far I like the characters especially b.b she's strong willed and strong minded especially at the age of 15 and knows what she wants from life but certain people are stopping her so far but i be...
Giving this a 3.5 star rating because the artwork for this comic is absolutely gorgeous. The language and overall current state of the world is confusing to me. But despite it being confusing, the series makes me want to know why things confuse me. I want to read more and hopefully some of my questions get answered.
The artwork is beautiful and I'm intrigued by where this story is going. This mysterious first part sets the scene for what I'm sure will be a very engaging series. Thanks to Book Studios for giving me a digital sneak peak!
While "social distancing" during the COVID-19 pandemic, I picked up this colorful graphic novel, looking for some escapism. Imagine my surprise when I read: Two hundred years ago, Mother Nature snapped. She hit the world with a plague that ate greed. The 1% was her appetizer. Then another 60% of the population, 'til the whole world stood still. The chaos killed millions and crushed capitalism (that system that let people worship money more than the earth, FYI. I know, so gross, right?). Hmm. Ga...
Rarely do I find Latinx writers and protagonists (especially if they are also LQBTQ+)! I’m always on the search for more because we are out there and many. The art is absolutely stunning and I am intrigued. This story has a lot of potential. I shall b.b free when I get my hands on the volume in 2020! Bring on more sci-fi and meddling kids, gracias.
Found this before the hype sets in! But I think it's gonna deserve some hype. I really liked the beginnings of lore about the way the world is set up, as DC the kick-butt female lead who just wants to be allowed to grow and live her own life. Three drawings and colors were beautiful, too. Who doesn't like a friendly yellow pet alligator? Bought the next installation soon as I finished
A super-cute pilot issue to start off this series about a radio-show hosting, alligator riding, adorable teen with cosmic energy powers b.b. free. The art style and colors are really bright and fun, and both b.b. and her best friend Chulita already have pretty fleshed-out personalities. The post-apocalypse worldbuilding was also cool, but I would have appreciated more background on b.b.'s dad and whoever the AWC are. Other than that, a great start to the series!
this was really cute ! love the art style , i’m excited to read the rest of the story and these short issues are super fun :)) also also love the representation in here omg !!!! b.b. i would do anything for you
