Georgi V. Plekhanov [1856 - 1918] was a Marxist trailblazer in tsarist Russia in the 19th century. He founded the Emancipation of Labour, Russia’s first Marxist group. He later joined V. I. Lenin’s Russian Social-Democratic Labour Party [RSDLP]. In 1903 the RSDLP split into Bolsheviks [Majority] and Mensheviks [Minority] with Plekhanov among the latter faction.
The split notwithstanding, Plekhanov was highly regarded as a Marxist theoretician and revolutionary. He established himself as a prolific writer on political and philosophical subjects from a Marxist standpoint.
This collection is a tiny though important portion of Plekhanov’s writings. It has a linked table of contents comprising the following:
The Meaning of Hegel
Essays on the History of Materialism
The Role of the Individual in History
Historical Materialism and the Arts
On the Study of Philosophy
Utopian Socialism in the Nineteenth Century
