American Stroll: Journeys In Rhyme And Song

American Stroll represents more than 40 years of writing song lyrics and poems that encompass a wide variety of different themes. The title composition is a long lyrical adventure that pays homage to American music with the almost 500 song titles used only for the words with the actual song having nothing to do with how they are woven into the story line. As with so much poetry and music, many involve relationships and love, both good and bad as well as several written in response to tragic national events. The positive poems and songs reflect, in one way or another, the ongoing love affair with Minna, my wife after 35 years of marriage where we are Still Going Strong. And of course others recall previous relationships and some even fictional and/or dysfunctional situations such as the Drinking Trilogy. Many of the poems are composed using a variety of complex rhyming schemes with the songs having been performed at numerous open mike venues with enthusiastic audience approval.
