§ Constable only sold twenty paintings in England during his lifetime, but he sold more than twenty in a few years in France.
§ After the death of Maria, he suffered from melancholy the rest of his life.
§ Constable was elected to the Royal Academy, where he gave a series of lectures on the history of landscape painting.
