"Flip the pan, and out it pops!/Cut in squares and frost the tops./Add some sprinkles, wrap each one,/tie a ribbon, nearly done." Three little bears travel in the snow to bake with their grandma. This is a short, sweet picture book that is a perfect December read (with nods to cold weather and gift giving and time together with family). An Imagination Library read for 2 year olds.
This is the most adorable children's book that I have ran across in a while!Beautiful, cheerful illustrations and a sweet story.
Definitely a family keepsake. A loving story that will warm your heart. Perfect bedtime reading on chilly winter nights. Ideal gift giving for every grandma out there. Every page is a cherished work of art. An absolute pleasure to read over and over again! My boys and I absolutely LOVE the recipe in the back, too!
Crisp white snow, clear blue sky, and roly-poly bear cubs burst onto the opening pages of this charming story, Baking Day at Grandma’s. Snuggled in wooly winter hats, mittens and boots, they march eagerly through the snow to Grandma’s cozy log cabin. Once inside they warm their toes at the fire then dance with delight, chanting “It’s baking day! It’s baking day! It’s baking day at Grandma’s!”Grandma, a delightful full-size ursine in paisley shawl and reading spectacles, doesn’t miss a beat. She
6* art6* storyLOVE this book. Just love it. So much fun to read out loud. Squirt says it with me "Baking day! Baking day! Baking day at Grandma's!" And is there anything better?? Making a lovely mess at Grandma's house, listening to Grandma's Victrola and dancing around in aprons - that wonderful smell of baking filling the kitchen (Grandma has a gleaming wood stove, by the way.) Drinking hot cocoa and walking home in the moonlight? COME ON!!! This is the coziest book in the whole wide world. Sq...
Charming story about three bear cubs who spend the day at Grandma's baking. The illustrations are just gorgeous, especially the final two-page spread of the cubs heading home at night with a full moon in the sky, snow on the ground, and their cozy house off in the distance. You can almost feel the chill in the air, hear the crunch of the snow beneath their feet, and smell the wood fire from their home.
Love the illustrations, the bouncy rhyme and the story. It's a win!
Cute illustrations and nice rhyiming scheme. Would be a good choice for a winter storytime.
A cute story with rhythm and rhyme that lends itself well to read-alouds, particularly if you're cozied up with grandma on the couch.
This is such a fun book for any young kids who spend time baking with Grandma. The rhyme and rhythm make it very catchy. A recipe is included to make the cake that the bears make in the book.
Perfect for a cold winter story time....kids loved it!
My toddler loves the rhyming rhythm of this book
Very sweet. Simple and repetitive. I was worried at first that it might be a little too young for our almost 3-year-old, but he loves it.
Such an adorable book! It rhymes and flows really well. The illustrations are so wonderful, adorable, and cute. There are phrases that repeat, which usually annoy me, but in this book, they don't! The repetition flows SO well. Love this book! It's about three small adorable bears going over to Grandma's house to bake. It was odd they were walking home from grandma's "under the moon" because why would you let three small children/bears walk alone at night? That's the only thing that concerned me.
Denise, Anika. Baking Day at Grandma’s, BOARD BOOK. Philomel Books, 2016. $6.99. Three grand-bears go visit their grandma to bake gifts for their family and friends. They help Grandma measure, mix, and bake. While they wait for their cake to bake they listen to music and dance. When the cake is done they frost and sprinkle it, cut it up, and wrap each square to give away. I love this book. The pictures are done so well. They are detailed and fresh, with a soft glow about them. I don’t always enj...
Denise, Anika. (2014). New York: Penguin Group.ChoiceThree little bears trek through the woods in the snow to have a day at baking at grandma's house. They spend the day baking, drinking hot cocoa, dance and sing the day away with grandma. After the baking is done, they wrap and bag them nicely and take them home. This book is descriptive and makes you feel like you are in the cabin baking with the family. An enjoyable read.
A very sweet rhyming text with magical illustrations.
