Probably doesn't happen very often that a farmer sleeps in and has all the animals making their noises to wake him up, but when he gets up, he sure does get things done quickly to be able to sit down to breakfast with the family. Great for kids learning their animal noises.
Cute for a farm storytime. Farmer won't get out of bed... until his wife and all the animals join forces to make some noise!
Wonderful for the younger child.
When the Rooster crowed is a fun and quirky book about doing your job. It teaches that we must stay motivated even when we do not. It shows what could happen when you do not listen and ignore things around you.

About a farmer who tries to sleep in. Lots of opportunities for animal sounds.
O
When the Rooster Crowed by Patricia Lillie (Greenwillow Books 1991) (Children's). This is a book that my three children adored growing up, and they all remember fondly the gentle story of what happens when it's time to wake up on the farm. The cows, the pigs, the horses, the rest of the animals, the farmer's wife, and finally the farmer all have to wake up so that the farmer can do his chores, feed the animals, and can then sit down to a great big country breakfast! I loved this book too, and it...

This book is about a farmer who doesn't want to get out of bed and all the animals are making noises one by one and he keeps saying a few more minutes. His wife starts calling him too ad he says one more second. Finally all the animals and the wife call for him at the same time and he wakes up gets his chores done and eats breakfast.I think this book focuses on responsibility. We can;t stay in bed all day because there are things to be done!
Albert the farmer, wants to sleep in a bit late; however, his wife, and the animal on the farm have other plans. Poor Albert! This book can be taught when teaching a lesson on the concept of time. Great for Kindergartners when learning animal sounds.
This book is excellent when discovering sounds that animals make. It takes place on a farm where a farmer is not ready to wake up. His farm animals attempt to get him up by calling out their individual sounds. Math is also an important part of understanding this book. It is clear that the farmer is waiting for 6:00 am to come around to finally wake up. When the animals try to wake him up earlier, he responds with time terms such as wake him up in 10 minutes and wake him up in half a second. Also...
