A is for America is a good alphabet book that also touches on different parts of being an American. It brings up the eagle and the bill of rights, for example, and explains each topic a little. It's a very educational book.
My Review: I picked this one up for Munchkin thinking it would be a fun 4th of July read. It was surprising that they found something for each letter! It did have a lot of things listed that were a little above Munchkin's grasp, and they didn't go into detail too much. The beginning had a really nice rhythm going but it seemed to get lost later in the alphabet when it was really stretched to find things for each letter. With that said it was a nice introduction to all things America for Munchkin...
“A is for America” is a book that combines language arts and social studies. Each letter of the alphabet is represented with a patriotic symbol. For example, C is for Constitution; S is for Supreme Court. Written under the letter is a definition of the patriotic symbol. The book is geared toward primary students. The illustrations are done in mixed media style with pencil and watercolor. All the characters in the pictures are children, e.g. the page showing M is for Mount Rushmore shows children’...
This is an ABC concept book where everything relates back to America. Rhyming couplets help children learn things from the constitution to Yankee Doodle. This ABC book would be great to use when teaching American history but not for teaching the ABCs. This is definitely intended for older children. A great activity with this book would be to give each child a letter that they have to come up with something related to America and draw a picture and write a sentence or paragraph about that topic.
For such a small book this one is jammed with information all about America. A patriotic symbol or historical event or person is listed for each letter of the alphabet. At the back of the book there is a list of all of the people that were mentioned with a little bit more information about them and why they were significant. The pictures are also super cute!
This was a cute book. I loved the illustrations. I loved that it was a group of kids putting on a play that did the alphabet. It was so cute and informative but short enough that little kids would be entertained.
Eh, I'm not a fan. Cute idea but rather poorly executed. Some of the rhymes were pretty forced.
A is for America is a great Alphabet book for children. Instead of the traditional alphabet book that just has the individual letters with some sort of ryhme with it, it has informational facts for each letter. The pictures are very colorful and the people in the pictures are children so that it pertains to children as well. The facts may be a little beyond young childrens learning levels is the only downside to the book. Other than that i would recommend this book for teachers.
What would YOUR patriotic alphabet consist of? I love the school pageant setting the illustrations give to this selection of nouns and names. This can stand in as a script for a class or school presentation, as inspiration for individual or class alphabets, as a curiosity nudge for finding out more about any or all of the elements, or simply to enjoy as it is.
This was a great book for my young children to become familiar with different concepts important in American history. The pictures were fun and the text was engaging.
Need help teaching your kids all about America? Well all problems solved with this book A is for America, this book goes through the alphabet as if signifying all the important parts of Americas history. This includes illustrations that express what happened in America's past, the pictures describe what the complicated words mean. This also gives the children a better understanding of what was going on at the time period when these historical moments happened. This books very up to date and the
"A is for America" combines reading along with a great lesson about American history. Each letter of the alphabet is represented by one important piece of American history or government in a fun, student friendly way. This book would be a great way to introduce American history in an elementary level classroom, and may even be a good source to use for a school play or presentation on America. The pictures in this book are also really fun to look at and will definitely engage students in the read...
This book combines both language arts elements and history. Each letter of the alphabet is represented by one important piece of American history that gets explained with fact about that person or part of history. The pictures in this book are interesting and funny children will enjoy seeing this book and laughing at the witty pictures. It's a fun approach to American history, children wont even realize they are learning anything. This bookcan be used at any reading level above first because the...
A is for America, yet where is the REST of America? Where's is Canada or Mexico or Argentina or any of the other fine countries of America? How will the north americans ever learn the difference between a country and a whole continent if they are taught incorrectly from the beginning? Other than that, the illustrations were lovely.
A is for America is a well written book. While going through the alphabet they bring in important parts about America and give a short description of what each of them mean. Along with that it also rhymes which is another added bonus to teach students about. The illustrations are very nice and have a lot of details.
This alphabet book is pretty well done, and uses some great ideas for some of the letters. And the illustrations are A is for Adorable.
