Darkness on the Delta

Darkness on the Delta

Frank Scarpetta
0/5 ( ratings)
Johnny Wong and his family escaped from China and came to the Mississippi Delta because some Asians have settled there. A bright boy, a hard worker, Johnny saves his money and sends it to his famous or infamous brother, Joe Lee, who is a close friend of the President, and Joe Lee, supposedly invests it in the Nigerian oil fields - the reason why Johnny paid cash for Tensas Plantation. Johnny thinks he's achieved the holy Promise of America - that he is fully Americanized .But a horrible thing happens the day he moves into the old mansion, and Johnny is in a fight for his life. On one level, this is a horror-adventure novel, but the underlying theme suggests much more/ because the author portends the present shock and future shock facing this nation. Is he THING that pursues Johnny a product of Creole, and or, Black Voo doo? Or, is it a THING conjured from ancient Chinese magic? Or, is it BIG BROTHER, which has its tentacles into every orifice of the body politic? At the climax Johnny finds out..Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Asians, others create an inevitable culture shock for the USA..
