FIONA, IT'S BEDTIME is another adorable addition to the Fiona series. It is set at a zoo, a favorite outing for children of all ages. The art work is fantastic and children will love the vivid colors and studying them as the bedtime verses are read to them. This is not Christian so should appeal to everyone. My youngest daughter wants to read our copy to an eventual niece or nephew and gives it five stars. Beautifully designed and perfect for gift-giving.I was given a copy free. All opinions are...
Richard Cowdrey's charming and colorful illustrations will delight little ones as they're encouraged to go to sleep. The rhyming text of Fiona, It's Bedtime is fun to read aloud, as Fiona visits all her friends at the zoo. The text also captures the sleeping habits of the various animals. Living near Cincinnati, I have a soft spot for this lovable hippo. Cowdrey has captured her sweet persona on each page. This is perfect for children ages 2 to 8. Or an adult like me who loves children's books.
Cute, rhyming text describing the different animals as they settle in for sleep. The rhymes sound natural and have a good flow throughout the book, and at the end, Fiona is told it's time to go to bed, and the illustration shows her snuggled up and sleeping. The book is misleading, with the implication that all these baby animals live at the zoo, and stay with their parents, but explaining that to children would be complicated. And it is sweet to see each illustration of young and adult animals
Challenges: Book-A-Day in May 2021 (22/31); Reading Goal Posts/Stacking the Series - Priority Three/Tier Seven. The second of three visits with Fiona on this day in May. This time Fiona's story is in rhyme befitting the habits of each animal as she says goodnight on her stroll home to bed. Again, the detail of each animal group is amazing as illustrated by the author. Wonderful for a child to become familiar with and recognize the different animals included in this story.
This book is so sweet! Fiona was new to us, but we have fallen for her. Such a cute character and the illustrations are great. We are looking forward to reading more of Fiona. Thanks for sending us a copy to review, Zondervan!
In Fiona, It’s Bedtime, the zoo animals begin to settle down at sunset. Fiona the hippo visits each of her friends—the koalas, cheetahs, flamingos, and more—to tell them goodnight. The fun, lilting rhymes capture the sweet nuances of each animal breed, such as the otters drifting to sleep as they hold hands, or the zebras who doze standing up. Once all her goodnights have been said, Fiona goes to bed. This bedtime story is gentle, relaxing, and endearing. The full-page illustrations are colorful

This story is sure to entertain young readers and story listeners as they prepare for bed.Fiona is a charming little hippo, based on a real-life hippo who was prematurely born at the Cincinnati Zoo, and the smallest hippo to ever survive. Very sweet illustrations - a hippo baby at the zoo knows that it’s bedtime, but first she wants to go to all of her zoo friends and wish them goodnight. With a rhyme for each different animal Fiona sees, she says goodnight to everyone until she finally goes to bed herself.
My granddaughter loves being read to. So we are always on the lookout for a good book that will engage her curiosity with fun verse and colorful illustrations. Fiona, It’s Bedtime does just that. Each page of this soon-to-be bedtime favorite shows members of the zoo family getting ready for bedtime. The cheetahs snuggle in their mother’s fur, the koalas wrap themselves around the trees, and the flamingo’s balance on one foot. I loved how the animals’ uniqueness is expressed. The book is sturdy a...
Howl! Roar! Squawk! Coo! The sun is setting at the zoo. Fiona travels around the Cincinnati Zoo to say goodnight to all of the animal families, including the cheetahs, sloths, tortoises, and more before falling asleep herself. Come on...it's an animal book with adorable illustrations about the baby hippo internet sensation that lives just a few hours away from my house. How can I not love it? The rhyme scheme and large illustrations (plus the local familiarity with Fiona) make this title a good
Precious, precious bookWe were at our local zoo the other day and when I called my granddaughter’s name a mother close by told me about this series of books. My granddaughters love the zoo! We are there at least 1-2 days a week. My Fiona is just like Fiona in the book. She is friends with all the animals at the zoo and the staff. I love the illustrations and the rhythmic flow of the story. This is just a precious book for young children. Love this book.
This was a cute bedtime story! You may know Fiona as the miracle hippo of the Cincinnati Zoo. She is the main character in this nice little book consisting of a walk around the zoo saying goodnight to each animal. The rhyming was pretty good for the most part (I’m a rhyming stickler 😬), and George enjoyed it, too.
This was absolutely precious!! This was so so cute. I love Fiona and all her animal friends in this cute bedtime story.
Fiona the Hippo is adorable! The actual Fiona lives at the Cincinnati Zoo and is the inspiration for this book. Enjoy taking a trip through the zoo as Fiona says goodnight to all the different animals and their families. It's simple, yes, but simple is good. It would be easy to do in a storytime without having to do all of the pages!
It's bedtime at the zoo. Fiona tells all the animals goodnight.Gentle rhyme. Adorable animals.
I LOVED this book. The pictures are beautiful and it is a rhyming book (YAY!) and just an adorable story of Fiona saying goodnight to the animals at the zoo. As I looked into the book a little more, I found out the character Fiona is based on the REAL baby hippo that was born prematurely at the Cincinnati Zoo in January of 2017. If I had littles still at home, this would be a goodnight staple in our home!
I love Fiona and "her" storybooks. All the adorable animals are pictured in this one. Fun rhymes to read!
