For me, the highlights were the excerpts from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and The Age of Innocence.
With the exception of Utrecht in the Netherlands, New York is my absolute favorite city in the world. How else could I rate a book like this, that collections snippets and notions of the city meticulously, but highly?
A wonderful souvenir of a visit to the world's greatest city, New York, and the incredible Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue. Featuring many works of art from its extraordinary collections, including photos, postcards, prints and paintings, matched with writing that celebrates the city, from song lyrics, poems, fiction and more.Highlights for me included extracts from Manhattan by Lorenz Hart, Breakfast at Tiffany's by Trumann Capote, and images of the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge.
What a nice bedtime book ... nice pictures that are quite evocative, although they're small, and related literary snippets, that are just long enough - which is to say quite short - to last until sleep. Then to dream about the city.
This book served only to continue my love affair with New York City. I am definitely in a New York state of mind.
