This was way too decompressed to be great. It's 3 issues of "You don't know what's going on" frustration followed up the big reveal in issue #4 that's just prologue for another series. Audrey Mok's art though is terrific.
The original Vampironca book was a simple fun B-Movie kind of story that didn’t concern itself with pointless explanations. This is the opposite. It’s four issues of insufferable exposition dumping that doesn’t amount to anything. There’s no story here, just endless regurgitation of what happened in previous books and what’s going to come in the next ones. It’s a shame, I was looking forward to another silly, fun Haloween-y treat that Archie Horror line usually delivers, but this was a nothingbu...
After the success of Afterlife with Archie and the forever delayed Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Archie horror line continues to be a great read with volume 2 of Vampironica. This collection sees Veronica finding out more about her linage and what it means for her new life. It’s a decent story that’s majorly boosted by some stellar artwork via Audrey Mok. One of the main things the Archie horror line has going for it is the artists. All the various series have solid art that really sets the...
I read this on my lunch break because the book I brought to work was a total stinker. I remember enjoying the first volume of Vampironica and this second book sucked, vampiric pun intended. I hadn't realized until I finished that it was written by a different author. The vibe was off, the colors were darker, and it wasn't as clever. Frank Smallwood did an excellent job the first time and he was a reason that I was excited to read the sequel. Perhaps due to the collaboration between Jughead: The
Loved it! I Loved the new characters, the plot... It was just Great !
Veronica returns to her own universe after the events of Jughead: The Hunger Vs. Vampironica, only to find that the vampire threat in her Riverdale is getting worse by the day. Can she solve the mystery of the first American vampire (no, not that one) in time to save her friends?I wanted to like this a lot more than I did, but it's incomprehensibly cryptic for the first three issues with characters literally telling Veronica that they'll tell her all their secrets later, and then later never com...
Boring 3.5 issues of exposition dump that totally misses the opportunity to make a vampire shark..5 issues of a boss fight where veronica psylocke discovers her powers in the final moment against magneto grandpa (or maybe evil prof x gran da? who cares).zzzzz
{3.5 rounded up} I would have loved to have these kind of plots crossovers between Sabrina and Riverdale. For now I will do with this little tasty pair of Fangs and soak up on the atmosphere.
I continually enjoy the writing and art in this series. I love how the story brings together characters in a unique way, and that there is fallout from the Jughead The Hunger crossover event. It gets a little goofy with some of the lore and an ever-increasing hierarchy of vampires with weird new rules and powers, but it fits the genre and serves the story well enough.
The lore of this series is really interesting. Archie Horror isn't afraid of doing anything crazy or different, and I appreciate it a lot.
I love vampire Veronica. But I have a thing for vampires in general, especially different vampire lore. So I really enjoyed this one. I also really liked the introduction of Fangs and his character (I also have a thing for Lost Boys vibes). But this was way to short an arc and things were way too rushed. There were a few references to what happened to the arc where she meets werewolf Jughead and she says she needs to work out that stuff but then it's dropped and never mentioned again - which is a...
Unfortunately this was not a story. The last Vampironica series was amazing! Highly recommend reading those. This story was very unexplained. You defenitly need to read Jughead vs Vampironica before this as apparantly Vampironica went to another universe and learned something about her past? Now she is coping with this information and looking into her family history (for again reasons unknown). Mysteriously there is an Edward vampire dude appearing out of thin air and in her way. When she figures...
This was okay. It wasn't fantastic and was still fun, but it had a different feel completely to the other instalments and just felt a little messy. It was packed full of info and all these characters stories and histories colliding, only to end, and leave me feeling this was all just a set up for a future instalment with nothing really being resolved. The artwork was on point, as usual and I did enjoy the backstory of veronicas vampiric ancestors, but that was really the highlight for me.
For a graphic novel, this isn’t my cup of tea. It felt more like if Buffy the vampire slayer, Twilight and well River Dale, (which I believe is a streaming show on Netflix with a similar spelling?) had a weird three-way love child. It was really boring and stereotypical. Except I was confused how the vampires could with stand sunlight? Weird.
I liked the follow up to jughead and vampironica crossover. It seems a new adventure is opening up in the future but with all the things that get hinted at and then not presented (looking at you After life with Archie Vol.2) I don't know what to expect from Archie Comics. The adventure itself was well written and interesting. I hope to see more of it.
To be honest, I liked the art style better than the storyline, especially after you finish American Vampire and realize why this is feeling so familiar... But this looked good. Better than the first series.
I liked it more than the first run of Vampironica, but it still felt like there were some pacing issues where parts needed to be more fleshed out. Incorporating history was fun, and the page involving a shark cracked me up. It's decent, but I still prefer the Jughead: the Hunger series more.
tfw no billionaire vampire gfThis has the same quasi-manga art style as “Superman Smashes the Klan” and that shoujo Jason Voorhees fan comic. It works here, though. At least until they change artists halfway through the last issue (just like the last Vampironica miniseries!). Anyway, it’s a cute little comic and another Archie Horror winner.
