This marvellous book is a continuation of Volume the First. As before, the illuminations are beautiful. There are more than twice as many illuminations as in the first volume. There are interesting bits of history and customs throughout the middle ages, not always found in history books, e.g. how minstrels started out and what their final role was, and how the long-bow came into use. Here, as in the first volume, the dress is everywhere meticulously described, with humorous descriptions by poets of the dress of the time.
Images have been greatly enhanced with modern technology where possible, mostly as full page in order to appreciate them in all their glory.
