One world torn apart by war, another by climate, a third by faithlessness, and a fourth by the callousness of man. Within each, there is a hope for greater things, a chance to fix the world or at least move beyond the suffering. No matter what an author would have you believe, chances are not certainties, and not all who venture out will succeed.

First to try is JNY-35197, built as the clone of a rich man, then thrust into an unwanted war. Next is Jonah, dead long ago but saved as part of a medical experiment, he now roams the byways of electronic media. Third is six nameless men, cast out to die. And finally there is Karlat, the priest who knows the gods are real but doubts their intentions.

Together they wield a tangled web of success and failure, resolution and dissipation, all for the delectation of the audience.

So come one and all, and see what happens on the borders of Mortality!
