Welcome back, Jack! This is the comic book issue #1 of the event “Batman: White Knight”, which it will be a miniseries of 8 issues.Creative Team:Writer & Illustrator: Sean MurphyColorist: Matt HollingsworthLetterer: Todd Klein AN INSTANT CLASSIC!!! Trust me, Sean Murphy and his White Knight story will become an instant classic, not only in the lore of Batman tales, but also in the range of comic book stories in general. After all these years, you still have no idea what I’m capable of? Th
I'm so here for this. Shit got serious and I cannot wait to see where this goes and how we get there.
Its just another love story...I was super excited about this premise and I think Murphy did a great job flipping the script and setting the series up in this issue. It's pretty jarring and oh-so fascinating seeing the toll of being Gotham's vigilante hero has taken on the Batman. There's something about it that feels very real and perfectly timed. A comic that touches on police brutality and accountability--yes, please! There's a lot of potential without it being too over-the-top (for a comic bo...
If I gotta read one more Joker centric comic where he and Batman aren't banging it out, imma lose it Anyways. This concept is hella cool, a role reversal of Joker and Batman, and some compelling arguments against his brand of vigilantism.
A strong start that feels smart and challenging.Full review here: bit.ly/2fMjI0E
the story is good and the art is crazy good y'all !!!
This is going to be one of the most influential books from DC to come out in years, I'm calling it now. As some of my friends on here may know, Batman is one of my favorite DC characters. However, it's not because of Batman himself, but all of the people that make up his mythos. Namely, the Joker. This title is going to explore the relationship between the Joker and Batman, and that's something I love more than anything else. The Joker is probably one of the most morally.... complex characters in...
What a ridiculous concept. Batman goes over the edge and Joker wants to be good because he feels that Gotham deserves better than Batman and Joker? Wtf so stupid
White Knight is a role reversal story where Batman suddenly loses the plot and gets banged up in Arkham while the Joker becomes “good” and decides to save Gotham. And the first issue is gahbage! I’m not against experimental/Elseworlds-type stories like this but every “What if the Joker was good?” book I’ve read has stunk (like JM DeMatteis’ Going Sane or Michael Green’s Lovers and Madmen). I think that’s mainly because Joker’s such an awesome villain and only really works in that capacity. Why w...
WOW
Disappointing Some reasons for one star:-Joker has been redefined. That is cool the author want to try something. However, as one reviewer state, let keep the politics out of it. Spoilers here as I explain. These were not the exacts words but Batman driving around with no insurance, etc. -The police brutality is another example. -I am too upset to continue. 🇺🇸😡
So I'm very much enthused with Sean Murphy's take on the Batman. His Punk Rock Jesus was original (despite some of its flaws) and his art in Detective Comics #27 and The Wake were way too good to look at. Batman: White Knight is an Elseworlds story that explores the thesis about Batman being the true villain of Gotham, and the only person who can stop him, the legal way is Joker, the White Knight.Murphy's art is undeniably good.I totally buy Joker being the only person who has the capability of
The book sucked. It was annoying, boring, and stupid.Annoying. I saw this jilted lover routine between Joker and Batman in the LEGO Batman movie. It wasn’t interesting then; it isn’t interesting now. Here it isn’t even funny.Boring. The whole role reversal plot where Joker becomes Gotham’s protector and Batman its greatest villain made me yawn. Wow. So original.Stupid. Let me list a few. Joker suing Gotham City over police brutality. No evidence Joker has ever broken the law ever. SJWs defending...
The content deserves one star, but the idea and the potential are just too good&interesting, I can't pretend I didn't like this on some level.Jabs at "SJWs" defending psychopaths, the Joker being "cured" according to that doctor because he scored high on the IQ tests (wtaf?!) and had a cat scan (??? there's nothing wrong with the structure of his brain, lady, it's how it WORKS that's the problem. Does the writer even know what he's talking about?!), the same Joker claiming he can't be charged al...
I went in biased, because I adore Murphy's art. He's my favourite artist and when he writes, I find his ideas fresh and fun. There's details here that you know come from the mind of a fan. And he explores these places so enthusiastically. There's something about messing with the Joker that you just don't do. And yet, you have to have it done to expand and experiment with the canon. And right now, I'm feeling that Murphy's going to do justice to the characters and the soul of what's always been th...
Looks like I missed a great series here. Thanks to Comixology Unlimited, I get to read the first two issues. I loved them both. Great story and art. Devilishly clever plotline here. Intelligent writing. And the art is suited for the storyline. Will probably purchased the rest of the issues or just get the complete collection.
Outstanding and truly exceptional. This is exactly what I've been craving in Batman comics - beautiful artwork, thematically dark, mature and dramatic story. Very unique concept and so far perfectly executed. This is one for the bookshelf. Issue #2 to be released on Nov. 1 and I'm really looking forward to it. Hats off to Sean Murphy.
Interesting take on a classic conflict between good and evil.
First off, I'd like to point out that although this is listed as me reading the kindle edition of this issue, I am in fact reading the print edition, and my copy features the cover in black and white... GR really needs to put print comic books up on here. There are those of us who still read them you know. I've been excited about this book ever since Sean Murphy announced it over a year ago! Sean Murphy is one of my favorite comic book artists. And I love Batman stories!!Okay, I've been takin...
Batman: White Knight by Sean Murphy may be the sleeper comic of the end of 2017 and a great short series to bring 2018 in with. The artwork by Matt Hollingsworth is insanely good and though most of the Batman fandom is following and hunting down every Metal comic; and rightfully so, Batman White Knight may very well be the best Batman going today. What happens when the Joker pushes the Batman too far? What happens when an emotionally unstable Batman cannot think clearly? Then it is up to the Joke...
