The cover for America #2, as I featured in my review for the first issue, is one of my all-time favorites, so I was beyond excited to see what this would entail. And we continue with this second issue right from where we left off, and even get to meet Peggy Carter on the battlefield. I was so thankful to see America's humor and snark not changed much. Also, I lost it at “Try me, Becky.”However, since not much happens plot-wise in this second issue, it was still great to see America Chavez in her...
What the actual hell is happening... I'm so confused. Will try one more issue and if it still doesn't make sense then I'm out!
69/100
Jump starting the issue with Peggy Carter, who delightfully says: "Punching Nazi's is Neato" then bringing in Moon Girl and we can all agree with the line, "Lunella is the truth." This issue was a lot of fun! A little hard to follow what is going on, but we're still in issue 2, so there's still some set up happening.
And issue two continues to be just as fun! Jen Bartel is doing a cover for one of these, too, so I know I'm going to continue reading.
I'm loving this series so much! Perfect balance of action and character development! This starts where the last one left off where America accidentally travelled back to WWII. She meets some of our favorite Marvel heroes before we go back to her college. My daughter shows up! I won't spoil it but I screamed! The message in this book is so important: it's essentially against the current public school system's penchant for forcing students to all fit into a preset mold. The guest speaker explains
America continues to hone her powers, save the world, and discover more about herself in this one.
I can't get enough of this series. And oh my god it's so funny.
3/5 starsI'm just confused. I'm really not enjoying this series as much as I was hoping to, I just feel like I'm missing key information to get what the hell's going on.
Action, humor, and a pretty strange storyline. Oh, and lots of connections to the Marvel universe. "America" gives readers lots of crowd-pleasing elements, even while showing America's (the character) angst with empathy and honesty.
Still non-coherent.
I AM HARDCORE LOVING EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SERIES!And now I want America and Lunella team up BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE SO AMAZING!
The cover deserves five stars, but as for the actual story in this second issue... I just found myself a little lost. I'm hopeful that I'll find my groove with issue three.
