The Second Kuzari: In Defense of the Most Despised Country in the World

The Second Kuzari: In Defense of the Most Despised Country in the World

Yehuda HaLevi
0/5 ( ratings)
The attitude of nations today toward Iran in comparison with the attitude of nations today toward the most despised country in the world illustrates a profound mystery. Iran supports terrorism around the world, is repressive to its own people, and presents a potential nuclear threat to the states in its vicinity. The most despised country in the world is a parliamentary democracy, occupies a tiny swath of land in the middle of a multitude of states that support dictatorships and terror, and contributes far beyond its population in wealth creation.

Even the government of the United States has lessened its support for and confidence in the most despised country in the world. The government of the United States has put more energy into helping a totalitarian regime in Iran than standing by its universally despised ally in the Middle East.

The Second Kuzari presents a defense of a country and a people despised by the whole world.

The Second Kuzari lacks the traditional flow of sentences and paragraphs. Instead, The Second Kuzari consists of separate quotations and comments that may seem unrelated. A traditional writer uses a sequential organization with clearcut transitions. Judah HaLevi selects quotations and makes comments taken from a diverse collection of texts representing many different types of sources.

As reader, you must participate actively in the construction of The Second Kuzari by finding common themes, ordering similar references, and putting quotations and comments side-by-side for comparison.

As reader, you must connect the jots.
