an SG1 story for fast reading, no hard brain.fits into the show plot, story line makes sense. characters are recognizable and have more voice than they had on the show.murder and mystery not clear till the last minute.I am one of minority who likes Colonel Mitchell and will welcome more books with this characterRecommend it for passing time and SG fans.
Fun genre-shifting scifi-to-mystery read.
Based on the Stargate SG1 series, this book is set in the tenth season. The author did a good job of managing both the mystery and scifi part of the story. She also did an excellent job of capturing the voices of the main characters, in particular Cam and Vala.
Very well written. You can "hear" all the TV characters voices.
Murder At The SGC is a companion book to the Stargate SG-1 TV series and is penned to fall between the TV episodes titled "Insiders" and "Uninvited" in Season 10. Colonel Cameron Mitchell leads SG-1, Vala Mal Doran is currently part of the team and General Landry heads up the SGC with Dr Carolyn Lam in charge of the infirmary. There is quite a lot going on in this story. Daniel is searching for Sangraal a legendary weapon linked to Camelot and Merlin. A weapon which they might be able to use aga...
This is a fun read and as a fan of the series I had all of the sights and sounds of that universe already in mind. I'm not sure how it would stand up to someone unfamiliar with the characters, timeline or premise, nor would it satisfy someone looking for a literary novel. It's what I call a popcorn read, and it was the tasty movie kind that isn't necessarily nutritional but deeply satisfying to consume nonetheless.
Another fantastic SG-1 adventure. A archaeologist has been murdered while Jackson and Carter are stuck offworld searching for a ancient weapon the others have to find out why and who has struck at the core of Stargate Command. Faithful to the hit 10 season TV series.
Good who dunnitWhile SG-1 begin search for the Sangraal, there's a murder at the base. Interwoven with the Sangraal mystery is the mystery of a murder involving NID, suspecting even Dr. lam. Zats, gunshots, and bombs, and a ticking clock make a fun read to the end.
I really wasn't expecting much form this entry in the SG series - a murder mystery? Yawn. But I read it anyway, and it was pretty good. Integrated a lot of SG1 'mythology' into the story.
Adventure mixed with intrigue. I loved this from start to finish - which is rare for a Stargate novel!
Delightful. Really nailed the characters and the tone of the show, fun mystery and pleasant diversion. Will look for more from this author.
Vala was the best partThis was a fun read and Vala got to shine a bit. Sam was also in good form as was Teal'c. Mitchell and Daniel kept getting lost in introspection almost to the point of being whiny. And for some inexplicable reason there were numerous times when Jack was referred to in the present tense as Colonel O'Neill. He's already in Washington with his second star by this time. Sloppy editing.
Really good. A lot happened but the character moments were still there. Really enjoyed seeing the characters together again, especially as we only had 2 seasons with Mitchell, Valla and Landry. It's always good to see more adventures about SG-1.
This is quite frankly the best SG-1 novel i've read so far. I never felt like Griswold was just fubbing her way through, she felt like a genuine fan given the chance to write for a series she actually loved. That is always something to look for when you're reading a tie-in novel. The fun combination of bumbling murder mystery and Stargate science was fun and i really liked the insight we got into the characters. It certainly felt like we were getting a look at their thoughts and not just reading...
An SG-1 Detective NovelI liked this book. It started out a bit slow with a usual detective story plotline but then evolved into an adventure involving all the characters I love from season 9 and 10 of the TV show.
Meh.
It was a fun read. Made me feel as if I was watching the show again, which was a treat when it was on. Was a good mystery too, I can usually figure out the mystery fairly quickly. This time it took a bit more to figure out. But still enjoyable.
Utterly forgettable plot. I was barely keeping up with it due to the lack of any engagement on my end. Could have done something interesting with the premise on hand, but it just ended up rather bland.
I really enjoyed this book. It was like watching the show again, and the characters voice came through clearly. The plot was enjoyable and I didn’t guess the culprit right away.
