Excellent, thoughtful & insightful. Richard Parks is a remarkable extreme-environment athlete, and the humility of the man is laid bare on every page of this incredible narrative. What a guy. Total admiration.
This book made me dream so much , literally amazing and inspiring if you are into outdoor
Carte foarte faina. Bravo lui.
Very inspiring story of an International Rugby Player who had to quit the sport on account of injury. He went into sort of depression and overcome it with extreme adventure sports. Beautiful example of what a person can do if he wish to. I highly recommend this book.
A lot of books written by adventurers, or extreme athletes as Parks likes to be called, are full of exciting tales but badly written. This is not. At least, it is indeed full of exciting tales but it's not over dramatised, and is very well written. In particular, it focuses greatly on the psychological side and the many mental difficulties Parks has faced, told in a very forthright manner. I'm full of admiration for his endeavours and for turning his life around so dramatically, but also for the...
I battled a bit in the beginning of this book, I thought he is a spoilt kid that can't get over his forced career change....... but in the end his attitude won me over, the money he's raised in great and I actually felt a bit of self motivation.
It's nice to know that tough ruby-playing types who can climb Mount Everest are sometimes prey to doubts and depression. The difference is that they overcome it!
An interesting read into Richard's amazing feat (which deserves wider recognition.)
The horizon is only the limit of our sight......a profound phrase, heard by Richard Parks at his grandmother's funeral would become the lynchpin to pull him out of a twenty-one day self-deprecating stint of solitude, after the abrupt injury-induced end to his professional rugby career, to become the first human to reach all seven summits and three poles within the same calendar year - he did it in less than 7 months!Richard (Parksy) Parks' humbling account follows his five year journey through t...
An excellent account by Richard Parks. The man is an inspiration. After watching 737 on bbc Wales I have waited eagerly for a book about the challenge. Then the book comes out and a new to series about the Antarctic trip.I am a big fan of Richard Parks and hope he writes more books about his future adventures and challenges
Very inspiring, beautifully written, an honest and impressive account of Parks finding a new direction following the early end of his rugby career. Makes me want to go out and have an adventure.
Richard Parks has undertaken some pretty extraordinary adventures. As a lover of the outdoors and a challenge, the book held a lot of interest. However, I never really felt I connected with him and only started getting engaged after his main challenge (of which certain parts were rather skated over) was complete.
