🎅🏽🎄❄️I had this freebie on my Kindle for so long. But that cover made me want to read it today. I had no idea it's so short. Like really really short.I'm a big fan of this author's writing style and I would have loved to read more about Mackie and Joe. We get only a few scenes but who doesn't love a Christmas sweet story? Especially if it involves Santa. In the mall! Funny place to see the love of your life after 8 years. But hey, it was funny and also sweet. Sugary sweet! Snowflakes, Christmas
A lovely little tale from Liv Rancourt. If you are looking for a quick little read and want something Christmasy, here you go. Mackie is stuck in her hometown, she is an actress with no where to work so she gives it her all and becomes Santa in the local mall. During work one day she sees her college boyfriend Joe - Joe left town heading for Hollywood 8 years ago. Every year since he left he has sent her roses for her birthday. She hopes he doesn't recognize her as Santa. Will he recognize Mackie...
Forgive the late review... I posted this on Amazon LAST December. Hey, better late than never, right?Christmas short stories - it's like nibbling holiday treats... without the calories! And this one was great. I love Liv's voice - very snappy and when she gets into Mack's head, very snarky at times. Too funny! I was able to read most of this while I sat at the curb, waiting for the kids to get out of school. A super fun read at a really reasonable price.
What a fun, fast Christmas read! Liv Rancourt always creates such great characters, and she has a way with sharp, witty dialogue. At just 6,000 words, "The Santa Drag" is like a quick, sweet kiss under the mistletoe. Loved it!
Cute real short Christmas story
Aaaah!I liked this very short story, well written, just long enough to give your heart strings a nice little twang!
Cute, fun, short Christmas story! Definitely worth the read, and likely to get added to my holiday rotation.
Who doesn't enjoy a fun story that takes place in a mall?Quick fun holiday read.
If at any point this holiday season you're feeling stress, harried or any of the other multiple symptoms the holiday frenzy can bring on - stop what you're doing and read The Santa Drag -you'll feel better instantly. It's a short story, a quick but adorable, fun and romantic read. A perfect holiday pick me up!
Funny, romantic and short. Of course it’s a short story, but I would have loved to see this as at least a novella. I’ll consider it a romantic Christmas treat. More like a single Hershey’s kiss than a bar. And yet still so delicious.
A little bit of frisk, a little bit of frolic. This holiday novella is perfect for the romance-aholic. Super-fast, fun read. Liv does a great job with humor in this story, including Seattle's version of Christmas formal (read the book to find out what she means ;-)). I would've given it 5 stars if I'd gotten to know Mackie and Joe a bit better and see more of their romance played out. I also thought it ended a little soon and somewhat predictably. None of which detracts from the story at all and...
I love Liv Rancourts storytelling - she delivers clever story-lines and witty dialogue. The Santa Drag is a quick read involving a second chance love story (my favorite type) that will make you smile and cheer on the hero returning to his first love - the one he never forgot. The scenes from the mall will remind you of your time standing in line for Santa as either a parent or as a child and will make you wonder just who might have been in that suit. Take a break from the stress of the holidays
A fun second chance at romance story. Mackie needs a job and it looks like Santa is all that is available so there she is playing Santa and hoping no one figures out she is female. What she doesn’t expect is to have Joe, the love she let get away 8 years ago due to her fears, show up with his niece & nephew, will he recognize her? What will she say to him? Do they have a second chance at love?
What I love about Liv Rancourt's books and stories? No matter the subject, the characters are compelling, the writing is well-done, but best of all, time flies by. If you're looking for a fun read, Liv Rancourt is a go-to.
I think this might have actually been a reread. When I opened it on my Kindle it was at the end and as I read it it was all vaguely familiar. Oh well. It was sweet, if a little insubstantial and unbelievable, with a cute little twist at the end to bring it all together.
TrashBad language and inappropriate dialogue and not a Christmas read at all; however it is blessedly short but not enjoyable at all.
The Santa Drag is a short story about an actress who can't seem to find work in her field and after seeing an add for a mall Santa. Mack figures she has a low enough voice to do this job and after some padding she figures she just might be able to pull it off and keep herself from being homeless for Christmas. The one thing she didn't expect while working this job is to see the one that got away. Mack's ex-boyfriend just happens to show up at the same mall she is working at with 2 children. Thou...
Because this story is short it is hard to tell what the plot is without giving something away, let's just say it was a fun read and I really enjoyed the author's writing style, This is an author I will be checking out for future reads. Oh by the way. careful who sits on Santa's lap or comes close by!
Short story format is difficult to write and challenging to review. If done well, a short story often leaves you wanting more - a "full" version or a full length sequel. Yet we know that's not what we'll get when we pick up a short story. On the other hand, if a short story is done poorly, no one cares - about the characters, the story, or both.I believe Liv Rancourt succeeded with The Santa Drag. The characters are interesting enought that I'd like to know more. They are believable even if this...
This was a very cute short story. I’m not a Christmas story reader, but I liked it. It’s kind of a simple story but the main character was very lovely and easy to like. There is not angst here, not a complex plot either, but still it was a very enjoyable read. I think it can be liked by any Christmas loving reader, and anyone looking for a fun and free of angst story. It is my first from the author, but I’ll sure keep looking for her books now.
