The Triumph of Mercy: The Reconciliation of All through Jesus Christ

The Triumph of Mercy: The Reconciliation of All through Jesus Christ

George Hurd
0/5 ( ratings)
THE TRIUMPH OF MERCY presents the Scriptural and historical basis for the blessed hope of the restoration of all through the universal redemption that was accomplished through Jesus Christ.
The subject is introduced with the story of the author's personal journey, beginning with his childhood in a devoutly religious environment in which it was believed that the final destiny for all, except for the best of the best, was annihilation in the lake of fire. Then, considering himself to be beyond hope of salvation, he lived out his teenage years in despair in a life of delinquency and drug addiction until he had a life transforming crisis encounter with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in 1969 when he was eighteen years of age.
His journey led him from attending an Arminian Free Will Baptist Church, then later into Calvinism, doing his studies in a Calvinistic Bible Institute and a Baptist Calvinistic Seminary. In his ministry as a missionary in Colombia he tried to maintain a balance between Arminianism and Calvinism. However he began to see an increasing number of passages which seemed to directly declare the eventual salvation of all and others which presented hell as temporal and restorative.
He probably would have continued to brush these passages aside in favor of the prevailing tradition if it were not for a health crisis he was passing through. His liver was failing after over 40 years with hepatitis A, B, C and Delta with which he was infected during his youth as a drug addict in the '60s. A few years ago his attention was drawn to the promise of “the restoration of all things” in Acts 3:21. He determined to prayerfully and objectively examine all that the Scriptures had to say on the subject. It became his primary focus for three years.
His discoveries have transformed his vision of the love, wisdom, and justice of God and magnified the redemptive work of the Cross of Christ in a way which is almost like being born again, again. He is a conservative Christian and therefore has a high regard for the Scriptures. He wanted to be sure before God that Universalism was a biblical truth before communicating these blessed glad tidings of the ultimate salvation of all to others.
This book is all about his discoveries which he made and felt compelled to share in written form. It is the author's hope that your journey will be as blessed as his.
