The Jan 2012 edition of delsc focused on J.J. Grandville but the plates were colored by Maubert. Maubert was a prolific painter who contributed to botanical books as well as horticultural journals. He worked with the leading botanists of the day including Jean Loiseleur-Deslongchamps, Charles Lemaire, Charles d’Orbigny, Hippolyte Jaubert and Jean Linden.
The Groupe Edouard Maubert reports that he lived on the rue du Marché aux Chevaux, near the Jardin des Plantes. In 2009, the National Museum of Natural History in Paris paid homage to this artist with an exhibition of his work at the Jardin des Plantes. This area of Paris also includes Place Maubert which is not associated with artist but may be associated with Maître Albert, Albertus Magnus.
