The Continuous Turn

The Continuous Turn

R.L. McCallum
0/5 ( ratings)
From the elated light of love to the forbidding darkness of death these six, time progressive stories relate to the horrors of romantic involvement. Beginning in 1854, a London writer finds the prospects of love in a woman's voice that emanates from a dark corner of his flat. The second story is set in England, 1876, and relates to the eerily insoluble relationship between a wealthy army officer and a young woman of common status. The American Civil War is the backdrop for the third story which tells of a young soldier with supernatural ties to the girl of his dreams. The forth story moves forward to Hamilton, Montana in 1910, when a father and his two grown sons purchase a house that is haunted by the ghost of a lovelorn woman who has romantic designs toward one of the men. Manfred's Gallery, the fifth story, regales the reader with the story of a schizophrenic artist who paints the portraits of his delusions. Lastly, "The Atheist" is a godless man who tires of his wife's religious fervour and decides to murder her and the officiant of her church, but afterwards he encounters the horrors of providential justice.
