The Continuous Turn

The Continuous Turn

R.L. McCallum
0/5 ( ratings)
From the elated light of love to the forbidding depths of darkness these six, time progressive tales relate to the horrors of romantic involvement. Beginning in 1854, a London writer discovers the prospects of love in a woman's voice that emanates from a dark corner of his flat. The second story is set in England in 1876 and tells of the insoluble relationship between a wealthy army officer and a young woman of common status. The American Civil War is the backdrop for the third story, which recounts the tale of a young soldier who finds his true love in the substance of his dreams. The forth story moves forward to Montana, 1910, when a father and his two sons purchase a house that is haunted by the ghost of a loveless female who is seeking the everlasting company of man. Manfred's gallery, the fifth story, tells the tale of a schizophrenic artist who paints the portraits of his delusions. Lastly, "The Atheist" is a godless man who tires of his wife's religious fervour and decides to murder her and the officiant of her church; after the deed is done he reaps the wrath of providential justice.
