*. WW1 BRITISH SNIPER.
A fascinating read. I have read little on British Snipers; plenty about the Germans' depredations. This is one for the bookshelf.
SQUADRON LEADER: RAYMOND LEACH . BOOK REVIEWER. *.

At the beginning of WW1, German snipers executed mass killings along the trenches of Flanders and France. Sniper bullets cut down thousands of Kitcheners' soldiers in the prime of life. Amidst, exploding shells and smoke, a carnage of mangled corpses sank in a sea of mud. The Kaiser's crackshot marksmen were off to a winning start.

In 1915, British battalions were losing 12 to 18 men a day, at the hands of snipers, firing behind bullet-proof steel loop-hole plates, that the British could not penetrate. In response, the British army hit back with their own division of snipers. Arnold Crabtree, my Great-Uncle-In-Law was one of them. A young Mill Worker from Rochdale, England, who became a war hero at 21. This is his story.

This short ebook is written in an easy to read, informative style. Packed with photographs, maps and leading personalities of the day. Ideal for readers with a general interest in WW1 and a quick read on the go!
