Neat, original idea.
Pretty good. A little lengthy but the pop-out at the end is worth it for the kids.
long but good pictures and premise
Lachenmeyer has a written a how to guide about what to do if your book is haunted. This is a very important book with lovely art.
Imaginative. Fun. Enjoyable. However, I think my son is afraid of books now, but only for pretend, I hope.
Book Description "Everyone has heard of haunted houses. You know, the ones that the mailman crosses the street to avoid. But it turns out that books can be haunted too." Apparently this is in the "spirit of The Monster at the End of this Book." The ghost rearranges words, flips pictures upside down and pulls a little girl into the book in order to get his special ending. The illustrations of the little girl are wonderful, it's just not one of my favorite Halloween books.
In true Halloween time fashion, this book explores the spoooky abilities of ghosts. Did you know they can haunt houses and... books? This book explores how you can know if a ghost is haunting your book. Not too scary, this book would be great for K-2nd graders. Its pop up features create an interactive feature for younger readers or listeners. The cute twist on a scary concept would certainly appeal to children. Also, the enchanting illustrations add to the overall experience. As a librarian, this
Good for kids asking for a scary book.
Is there a ghost in your book? The Boo! Book shows you how to tell if there is, and what to do about it if your book is haunted. This picture book is gorgeously illustrated. The words are minimal, with one sentence per page and sometimes per two-page spread, and it's written more as an instruction manual than than a story. It depends heavily on the pictures, but it can, because the pictures you'll find inside are much like the cover: whimsical, creative, and charmingly adorable. I'll be holding o...
Congratulations! You are the proud owner of a hanted book...basic rules of bookkeeping. 1. Don't leave your book out in the rain 2. Don't reshelve it upside down and...beautiful colorful soft illustrations with a fun well sized fonthumorouscleveruniquegreat ending
The Boo! Book written by Nathaniel Lachenmeyer is a very cute book that can be enjoyed year round and not only at Halloween. It is about how to find out if your book is haunted by a book ghost and if so what to do about it. Such things to look for in a haunted book would be scrambled words. If the book is for sure haunted by a book ghost then you must make sure book gets read every once in a while or the ghost might get bored. What would you do if you had a ghost in your books? The illustrations...
This was really cute. I wasn't crazy about the illustrations, but the idea of haunted books is fun. The book tells you how to know if the book you are reading is haunted: "Let's say you're reading a story about a girl walking her dog on a sunny day. If you turn the page and suddenly the dog is walking the girl at midnight in a snowstorm there is a good chance that the book is haunted."
Have you ever picked up a haunted book? According to the narrator of this delightfully spooky picture-book, you probably have! Haunted books sometimes switch the plot on the reader, without any warning. The ghost haunting the book might like to play pranks, like scrambling the words on the page. If the reader finds themselves holding a haunted book, they should be sure to follow certain steps, outlined here. The most important of these, of course, is never to take a haunted book for granted, les...
This is a charming and unusual book. Would be a fun read aloud for early elementary kids.
Ceccoli's style is growing on me...found myself really enjoying the quirky 3D/2D blend in this book as well as the slightly meta narrative experience. Younger kids who want a scary-but-not-really book will appreciate this one.
Love this book and love, love, love the illustrations.
The pictures are lovely, the story seems a bit hard for young children to follow. Maybe a bit too complex and scary.
Don't let the soft illustrations fool you, this book is VERY creepy. I'm clearly in the minority here, but I wouldn't tell anyone they could be sucked into a book by a ghost.
LOVE the illustrations!
Apparently houses aren't the only things that can be haunted. Follow along as an adorable little girl tells you just how to find out if the book you are reading is haunted by a book ghost. It shouldn't surprise you that books are haunted too. After all, the word book does begin with BOO! A cute and lively story is made exceptionally atmospheric with Nicoletta Ceccoli's enchanting illustrations.
