Darke (Septimus Heap #6), Angie Sage Septimus Heap is a series of fantasy novels featuring a protagonist of the same name written by English author Angie Sage. In all, it features seven novels, entitled Magyk, Flyte, Physik, Queste, Syren, Darke and Fyre, the first (Magyk) in 2005 and the final (Fyre) in 2013.Alther Mella has been Banished, a Darke Domaine engulfs the Castle, and a Darke dragon is on the loose. Septimus Heap must use all of his skills to save the Castle and the Wizard Tower from...
Great book, though Angie Sage must have been a little scatter brained. It seems as though, with all the minor plots she has made, she can't keep up with them. Still, part of one of my favorite series.
I started reading these books with my son early this year and though he has lost interest, I have gained. Iβve genuinely enjoyed all the books so far, but this one is my favorite. I loved the action and the multiple plots coming together in the end. I canβt wait to read the next in the series.
I'm getting dangerously close to the end of this series and frankly, since I've come to love and appreciate it, I wouldn't have minded if it had 15 more books. Sticking to a series can be hard but once you get over the hesitation it feels amazing to keep visiting the same world over and over again. Provided the books are good, of course.-I would say that the sixth Septimus Heap book was darker than the rest, not only would it be a pun but it'd also be true. The whole Castle was at serious risk t...
To get right to it, I think Darke was a whole lot more padded than it needed to be. There was too much time spent on people just hiding out in the dark, with very little plot to drive the book forward. I'm still excited for the final book, because I knew the 5 previous books to be much better than this, but this is definitely a low point for the series.
I literally live for all that Beetle content. He is clearly the best character in this series. And that's saying something. I find that Darke, just like every book in the Septimus Heap series, has great character work for every single character. And there are a lot. Most of them are not even written to be likeable (like Marcia), but they feel so real you can't help but fall in love with them anyway.I have to admit though, Jenna and Septimus are starting to get on my nerves. Jenna just spends the
The story is so much better than Syren. Itβs exciting and very intense, not boring at all. I enjoy the core story very much but I really annoyed Jenna and Septimusβs interaction at first. Some characters have illogical and stupid thinking like they are in soap opera (Sarah and Silas Heap to be specific). The unique writing technique of Angie is the timelines between chapters are overlap which is fascinating. Although, itβs also a weak point (e.g. Jenna and Nicko pop up themselves from very far p...
The book was good. During the first half of the book, I was really annoyed by Jenna and Septimus' behaviors. I was so annoyed that I didn't want to read anything about them. I actually wanted to read more about Syrah and Beetle. I am glad there was more Beetle in this book and he had such a good ending. Also, I would like more Wolf Boy. I am not sure what I think about the plot. I mean...I was interested in seeing what would happen, but I rolled my eyes more than once while reading the story. Me...
have been notified today, April 1, i am a winner of a copy of this title, YAY! Wow!! rec'd a store copy this week in addition to the advanced reading copy. I am amazed.started reading this on my vacation. Generally not an issue its book 6 and i never finished chapter 1 of book 1. Necessary knowledge from the previous books is woven into the story without disruption to the plot reminders for those who have read books 1-5 and info for those of us who haven't. I am not finding myself attaching to a...
it is going to have to be a good book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!or i will cry and email her at least 100 emails why it wasnt good.
2021 edit:Geez why are all my old Septimus Heap reviews so bad XD. Well, I'm reading the series again to my little sister, ten years later, and I gotta say I still enjoy it immensely; such a charming cast of characters, wonderful setting and world-building, and so many fun shenanigans! This particular installment is one of my favorites in the series, so don't believe ten-years-younger me if I sounded underwhelmed by it. This series was never about being overly dramatic or bombastic or grand and
Enjoyed the whole series
I am now in the middle of Darke and it is just what the summary is about. Alther Mella has been banished in the prologue. Marcia makes a safety curtain and it has been broken. I am now at chapter 38 and Septimus and Jenna decide to take Spit Fyre, Septimus' dragon, up to the sky because it is the only place that is safe. This book is intriguing and has action and excitement on every page. Even though I have not finished the book yet, I would rate this book a 3 out of 5 stars because it is not my...
Sixth in the Septimus Heap series for middle-grade readers and revolving around Septimus Heap, the seventh son of a seventh son. The primary focus is actually on Beetle followed by Septimus and then Simon. My TakeI absolutely adore how well Sage enters into a child's mindset with their attitude, thoughts, and behaviors. I recognize myself as a child as well as the adult who's watching the kids mess up. AND, to be fair, the kids are doing a pretty good job of life. It's really Beetle who's the hero...
Roar! Flagon the Fierce and Friendly Welsh Dragon [see profile pic and other photos] here with my second Goodreads review. I reviewed The Other Wind last time.Roar - so Robert really likes Angie Sage (he met her once) but I've gone off her a bit because of this book; there's a Pesky Dragon in it. (Angie Sage calls it a Darke Dragon but it comes to the same thing.) We Dragons have enough bad press already, without contemporary authors adding to it with their books with Pesky Dragons in! Roar! At
{Rated PG} Ugh! This series should have stopped about 2 books ago. I felt this one was quite boring, when it could have been so much more fun if certain parts of the book were longer and were more immersed in the parts with the Darke dragon or when Septimus is wondering around trying to find his way to Dungeon Number One. Oh, well. 2 stars it is.
Such a fun and lovable series.
I like this book, #6 in the Septimus Heap series. I like Septimus Heap. I like the crazy concoction of characters that inhabit the Castle and the the world surrounding it. I like the intricacy of the plot and multiple steps required to solve the problem of the story, which in this book is a spreading fog of Darknesse spurred on by that trouble-making apprentice of the deceased Dom Daniel. I like how the characters evolve and change and new things happen to them. However, I think I might be growin...
That stinking Merrin Meredith is back, threatening the Castle with the power of the Darke. Only Septimus, his dragon Spitfyre, and Princess Jenna can stop Merrin from covering the entire city in Darkeness. I loved this book! The plot is full of action and magic and twists. I adore the characters, and I love how they grow and learn throughout the series. This book was particularly emotional for the Heap family as prodigal son, Simon, strives to win back his familyβs love and trust. My only troubl...
