Fortunately, Grandmother sent Emma's present early and calls to tell her to go ahead and open it. Emma finds boots, mittens, and a scarf. She sets out to buy the morning paper for her mother, and on the trip she gives away all her presents to people who need them more than she does. As she nears her home, a bus stops, and Grandmother gets off. It begins to snow.
