This book is addressed primarily to Christian readers and its aim is to provide them with basic information about Judaism, the religion in which Christianity has its roots. It seeks to give readers a more informed and more sensitive view of Jews and Judaism. The book explores Jewish beliefs, festivals, rituals and customs and talks about the books like Mishnah and Talmud which are of prime importance to Jews. It presents Judaism as a living religion and shows that modern Judaism, like Christianity, is not a monolithic religion but that there are many different strands within it. It treats briefly of the history of relationships between Jews and Christians through the centuries and considers the changes that have taken place in Jewish-Christian relations since Vatican II."
