Reflections on a Journey: The Collective Works of a Poet Storyteller

Reflections on a Journey is a collection of poetry I began unintentionally in 1999 to express my various thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and observations regarding the variety of my life experiences. In the end, the collection also reveals my growth as a writer and poet, and serves as a journal that follows my spiritual growth. It is, in a sense, a continuation of a previously unpublished series of works entitled, Jewels of the Trade. This series was the beginning of my endeavor to become a writer and an artist-something I dreamed of since childhood. The collection grew until I finally decided to take it to a publisher; a step up from sharing with a supportive circle of family and friends. I hope my poetry encourages and inspires those who "walk two miles in my shoes." Achieving their potential in the arts requires the courage to overcome history and imperfections-and courage to fulfill their dreams and live the life God gave them to the fullest.
