Young Rich Widows is a fun, twisty, mystery / thriller with all the 80s vibes you could ever want. I loved the four protagonists (Krystale is my FAVEEEEE) and I loved all the mob references. It always takes me a long time to go through audiobooks vs reading, but this audiobook was a pleasure. Easily five stars and one of my favorites of the year.
This was a free audible book. It started pretty well, and the performers do a good job. Unfortunately the pacing is way off: way too slow for the first two thirds and then a bunch of mostly weak twists in the last third. And also some huge plot holes
Ok friends, this has been a highly anticipated listen for me ever since I heard it was being developed. Take four amazing thriller writers, have them each write a different character, make it an Audible original, and set it in the 80s in Rhode Island? It's like a dream, and it did not disappoint!Think The First Wives Club, except the spouses are all dead, and the wives are being chased by the mob. It's nonstop fun, it's funny, it's campy, it's risqué. It borders unbelievable at times and there w...
3.5/5 ⭐️I thought this was such an interesting concept! I enjoyed the different point of views, the overall storyline. I lost some interest around 25% but once I got back into it, I definitely wanted to know how it all ended. The audiobook narrators were excellent, and that helped keep me interested for sure.I really don’t like Camille and that character is probably the biggest reason I lost interest. She’s just got some nerve, and I would love to know where she got the audacity for her words/th...
This was a fun read! Had some unexpected twists and turns. While this was a fun read, this story also had some serious material, which was great and unexpected! The narrators were excellent too!
I had the BEST time with the narrators of this story. Each person really played their role to their fullest and with each chapter I felt I could feel the authors' signature styles and lemme tell ya, it's freakin' entertaining! Grab some popcorn or pull up candy crush or some other mobile game or some gem art.. do some cleaning. Whatever. Find a reason to have to listen to this audio. I was hoping the title was a how-to book *wink wink*... but what we readers get is far more fun. Four very differ...
Thank you to the authors for the gifted ALC.It’s no secret that I am a huge audiobook fan and I happen to also love when authors collaborate on books, so when one of these authors reached out to me about this new endeavor, I was thrilled. And let me just say what a fun, thrilling story it is.This story grabbed me from the beginning and I found myself completely captivated. I loved the four women, who weren’t really friends at the onset of the book but end up spending quite a bit of time together...
The story was solid, but suffered from the pacing. First half was really slow, last quarter incredibly rushed and thus felt underdeveloped.
The mob. Cheating spouses. Money. Power. Pain. Motherhood. Oh and wolves. Did I get your attention? Wow. I don’t even know what to say here! I loved every second of this story and wished it was longer! The narrators are incredible. Each of them weaves their story so perfectly with their voices!!! Dina Pearlman- You are the perfect Krystle. We need more young rich widows. We need a series of novels! Do yourself a favor and download this one from audible and thank me later.
Caserta Pizza, Federal Hill ("The Hill"). Atwells Ave, Allen Ave, Turk's Head Building, Blackstone Blvd, Douglas Ave, East Greenwich, The Upper East Side, Terminal Road....etc etc. If only they had mentioned the "Superman Building, Thayer Street, and Wayland Square! These are all real places and added to my enjoyment for someone who grew up in Rhode Island and lived in Providence for many years. I currently live in Texas, first in Dallas (7.5 times the size of Rhode Island) and now Houston area (...
3.5 STARSReally enjoyed the narration and the snarky women. The mystery was lacking, especially when it got to the mob plot. Very OTT, but a mindless and entertaining listen! And it is a freebie from Audible.
WHOA!! Now this is what I’m talking about. Four fantastic authors. Four phenomenal widows. One entertaining thriller about plane crashes and the mob. The book is about 4 lawyers who die in a plane crash, leaving behind their widows to find out what happened and why their plane realllllllyyyy crashed. I don’t want to give too much away, but just know…it has to do with the lawyers getting their hands too deep in the dealings of some wacky, vicious mobsters. This was such a fun ride, with chapters
More like a 3 but could round up to 4 because it’s 1. Free, 2. I enjoyed the narrators/narration, 3. It was a quick fun read. Good way to pass empty time
I usually get through one, sometimes two, audiobooks in a month as I generally only listen to them when driving to and from work so it takes a while to get through one. But, every now and then, along comes an audiobook I become completed enthralled in. When this happens, I generally jump to finding it on kindle or amazon to download to finish it quickly. This book, however, is ONLY available on audio. So...I binge listened over the weekend while cleaning my house. My house is now spotless and the...
I like to suspend my belief when I read a book. I like to live with the characters even when I know I would never act, do, think, or talk like those characters.I also like to suspend my disbelief. I like to avoid the idea that something the author has written simply could not happen. With this book it was impossible to do either. But only because the characters and the situations were so ludicrous and so unreal (in every sense of the word) that it was impossible for me to suspend any intellectual...
This audiobook was a lot of fun!! There are 4 main characters…Justine, Camille, Meredith and Krystle. There is a different narrator for each main character and this is one of the reasons that this audiobook is so good!!These ladies all lose their partners in a plane crash and are left with uncovering why and along the way, they also try to rectify some wrongdoing by some mobsters. All four women come from very different walks of life but come together to protect their children and the legacy of
This book is centered around a group of unlikely widows who are drawn together due to unforeseen circumstances. It could be considered a mystery. I enjoyed the different personalities of the women working towards a common goal. I am glad I was able to read it in Audiobooks. The narrator did a great job making the characters come to life.
I love the way this story is told, between all 4 widows. It’s so intriguing, making you want to know more. I couldn’t stop listening.
I need this to be a movie ASAP
Entertaining bit of fluff.I keep comparing it mentally to tv. The characters are straight out of my imaginary conception of those real housewives shows that I've never actually watched but feel as if I know. The situations are the kind I've seen on shows like Ozark but the mood isn't so dark and desperate. We have four women: the widows and life partner of four lawyers who blow up in a plane, leaving a mess behind involving debts to mobsters and a huge deal to build a new mall. Justine is the for...
