“What happens when your mother’s dying wish becomes your worst nightmare”I would never have thought it possible that I would be awarding a book from the genre of Contemporary Women’s Fiction 5 out of 5 stars, let alone adding it to my Goodreads ‘Favourites’ list! But how could I not, when I became so invested in both the storyline and characters, that I simply didn’t want for it to be over, so that I would have to stop reading! As a debut book by a new author, Joani Elliott writes with complete c...
Cozy and enjoyable. Loved the bits about writing. The family drama though was underwhelming. Overall I'm probably just salty because I can't hit pause on my life to write a book in stunning surroundings 😂
Although not as lighthearted as the book cover art would lead you to expect, this book has plenty of humor in it, as well as a lot of grief and soul searching and thoughts about how you can lose your dreams but maybe find them again.
Genre: Women's fictionIt took a bit for me to get into the right frame of mind to enjoy this book but once I did, I found this debut novel delightful. It follows the main character Sara as she navigates life after the loss of her mother. At the beginning of this book, Sara has low self-esteem, is heartbroken after a divorce and drowns in self-loathing and is maybe even a bit depressed as she's never had the courage to try to become a writer as she always dreamed. On the other hand, her mother was...
Thank you NetGalley, author Joani Elliott, and Post Hill Press for giving me a free arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.5 starsThe Audacity of Sara Grayson is a debut novel by author Joani Elliott and what a wonderful first book. This book follows the journey of Sara Grayson and the fulfillment of her mother's final wish, which is for her to write the fifth and final book in her mother's wildly popular book series. I really liked the characters
If you want a permanent smile tattooed on your face and feeling the boiling warmth surrounding your heart and slowly melting it, this is the best absolutely feeling good book choice you never want to miss! As a writer I easily understand how giving birth of a book as painful, nurturing but also challenging experience so it’s so easy to relate with Sara Grayson who needs to learn to live bolder and to write more audacious. I felt her suffer, her insecurities, the pressure on her shoulders, her d...
Wow. And I say WOW again! What a book. This book is perfect for a vacation read, but it is a little 'heavier' than normal for a beach read. It has everything you need -mystery and a lot of that, romance but not the main focus, learning about what writers go through to get a book out there, a bit of villainy, a lot of sisterly love, and frustration. One of the oddest things for me is that this happened to one of my favorite authors -she passed away before finishing the last book she was writing. I
The Audacity of Sara GraysonJoani ElliottFive Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐The Audacity of Sara Grayson is a debut novel by author Joani Elliott. The word that was drifting through my brain while reading this book was inspirational. I found Sara’s journey from an insecure greeting card writer to writing the fifth novel in her mother's best selling literary series, a joy to read and follow. This book is witty, emotional, humorous and exciting. I was hooked from the very first page until the very end. Publishers Bl...
Imagine if a very famous author was your mother - someone like Agatha Christie, for example. They have an incredibly lucrative and entertaining franchise going on. This franchise has sold around 50 million copies worldwide and there are movies made on it and everything. Then, before the last book in the series comes out, the author dies. And they leave a letter asking you to complete the last book. This is exactly what happens in The Audacity of Sara Grayson.Sara is a 32-year-old who teaches Engli...
In my pursuit of good stories, I haven’t exactly given much thought to the blood and sweat that authors put in to produce their wonderful works of fiction. For non-writers like me, The Audacity of Sara Grayson will give you pause, making you admire your favourite authors a little bit more. One year after her divorce, Sara Grayson is still a hot mess. So imagine her shock, when after the untimely death of her super-famous author mom, Cassandra Bond, she finds out that her mother has charged Sara
Oh the AUDACITY! How could Sara’ mother, Cassandra, as her dying wish, ask that her daughter write book five-the FINALE to her best selling suspense series, Ellery Dawson-when the most Sara has written in the past has been greeting cards and cutie coupons? NO PRESSURE! Book four only sold 15 million copies in its first month, and still sits at #1 on the bestseller lists- a record setting 21 weeks later. The movie, based on the first book in the series shattered the box office numbers opening wee...
Sara Grayson’s mother is the famous best selling author, Cassandra Bond. When she dies her will stipulates that Sara is to write the fifth and final novel in her Ellery Dawson series. Sara is an annoying character, self absorbed, unobservant, seemingly uninterested in her family and in a slump after a divorce. Once I’d got used to her character I really enjoyed this novel. There’s a few complicated family mysteries along the way and many of the supporting characters are more complex than I expec...
I will post a review on my blog on May 25, 2021 at https://www.jenabooks.com/category/pr...Looking for a book that will keep you in your beach lounge chair until the sun goes down? Well, put on plenty of sunscreen and grab “The Audacity of Sara Grayson”. You’ll love this book- each and every paragraph sparkles. The book has an audacious premise. Cassandra Bonds is a mega-successful author. (Think Jackie Collins or Danielle Steel). She has written many bestsellers and her latest “Ellery Dawson” s...

So for some reason, when I requested this on NetGalley, I thought it was a romance. It’s not a romance. Or at least, not mainly a romance. Thankfully I really enjoyed this anyway!! Sara is a great main character and I love her because she seems so real. Her personality is fun, but also stubborn and a little quirky. I love the mystery of Sara’s parents and that she has to do all kinds of digging to find out what the heck happened and who wrote what. Lots of drama and some hilarity with a touch of...
This cute Rom-Com cover does not do this book justice! The Audacity of Sara Grayson is packed with humor, drama, mystery, and a few jaw dropping moments. Honestly I was sold when I saw the cover with the girl reading, but I was invested in this story all the way to the end. Books about books are my favorite and I loved the characters in this book along with quotes from famous authors to start each chapter. 5 star read for me!Writing is like sausage making in my view; you’ll all be happier in the...
he Audacity of Sara Grayson is Joani Elliott’s debut novel, and it’s a winner. From the characters to the interesting storyline, setting(s), and mystery it pulled in me from the very beginning.Sara Grayson is thirty-two, divorced, and teaches writing. She also works a gig writing greeting cards. Once upon a time she dreamed of becoming a writer. A respected critic of her first novel shattered her self-confidence, and she pushed writing aside. When her mother Cassandra Bond, the best-selling auth...

Raw. Awake. Alive. What can I offer to make them stay? A clean room, plush towels - a soft bed?No, they whisper. You are the room we want. Weave us into your soul. What a heartwarming read! Sara Greyson is one of the most relatable characters I've ever read, her journey in this book was so genuine and touching. How would you feel if your mother was a best selling author and book 4 in her series sold millions of copies and she names you as the writer that must write the finale in the series? Sara's struggles, grief, disbelief, and anger are so understandable in the first half of this book. As she comes to accept and continue on her writing journey after a l...
I loved reading The Audacity of Sara Grayson: A Novel by Joani Elliott. From the beginning, I knew it would be interesting and I could hardly wait to really get into the book. Sara Grayson and her sister Anna=Kath are mourning the death of their mother. They had planned to be with her through this journey until the end, but she slipped from this life while both girls were away from her room. Now Sara has discovered her mother who was a best-selling novelist has left a request for Sara to write t...
