Another amazing book by Jennifer Hartmann...her totally unique storylines grip you from the first chapter and won't let you go until your heart is sitting broken on the floor and your eyes hurt from crying. I will never not read them though
Enjoyed it. Very beautiful story. Loved the characters and their journey. Loved the writing. I felt it dragged at times.
Read as a part of Desire After Dark anthology and absolutely loved it. So emotional, such a beautiful story.
4 stars 🌟 First of all, I really have to say that I was a bit scared to read this book because I wasn't a fan of Jennifer Hartmann's last collab "The thorns remain". I was scared that I would have the impression of inconsistency in characters in this one too and that it wouldn't grab me, but boy was i wrong ! The writing was amazing and I clearly couldn't point my finger on which parts Jennifer and which ones E.R Whyte wrote. I really loved the fact that this was in dual perspective since we cou...
beautiful This whole book is sad, scary, tense, and so so so beautifully done. Jennifer Hartmann and E.R. White did so well at setting the scene you get enveloped into the lives of each character. Well done ladies it was beautiful.
2.5 ⭐️ i really loved the last book jennifer co-wrote with someone but this one just didn’t do it for me. i loved the first 40% and the plot wasn’t something i’ve ever read before but from there on out i just didn’t like the direction this book was taking.
UnderwhelmingSpoilers ahead!!This is the story of Dax and Indigo. They meet during a bank heist and go through quite an ordeal together. Someone is killed and the other hostages are threatened and injured. During all this they form a connection. They can "speak" to each other by just sharing a look. I've been with my husband for 13 years and when I look at him too hard he always just assumes he's got something stuck in his teeth. I just felt like the author's used this excuse several times rathe...
This started off great with the H and h trapped in a bank robbery situation. However, it lost intensity after the robbery and became kinda tame. I didnt really get Dax's decision to disppear, and there was too much of a focus on his personal journey. If you've never tried Jennifer Hartmann, I'd advise you to avoid this one. Read Still Beating and The Wrong Heart instead.
3.5/5 stars
The book has appealing characters, but the story just wasn't strong enough to bring these characters to life. At one point, I thought certain actions were ridiculous, but then I remembered this is just fiction. This took me a bit longer than expected to finish reading, mostly because I didn't feel connected to the characters. The plot has a forced proximity trope, but things really take a turn after they leave the bank. I wasn't convinced by Dax's backstory and his motivations, it just wasn't tha...
4.5/5 My only true issue with this book was when Indie forgave Dax at his cabin like it was NO BIG DEAL that he was hiding and pretending to be dead for eight months. That really irritated me, but other than that- this book hooked me instantly and kept me curious. Jennifer Hartmann does it again and makes a beautiful story out of a tragic situation, she has a habit of doing that.
Emotional RollercoasterAfter I started this book I realised that I had read another of Jennifer Hartmann's books, Still Beating, and knew this would be a good read, but angsty. I liked the style of this joint authored book and the premise of a couple meeting during a bank robbery was great. This wasn't a fluffy, superficial story and both Dax and Indigo plumbed the depths. I would have liked to have read more about the response to the revelation about Dax, but thought this was a great read.
Wow, this story is intense! Entropy will definitely have your heart racing, whether you prefer the thriller of a bank robbery or the super steamy scenes. All of the characters, from Dax and Indie, to Blake, Tameka, and my favorite little lion were so lovable and well written. I felt like I was right there with them, experiencing the heart-stopping anguish of the hostage situation, and then working through their different ways of coping as they healed after such trauma. A feisty kitten named Pick...
Still Beating it is not. The story immediately starts with a high stress, insta-love situation, which is fine. But then it just sort of fades to gray, and I felt like the rest of the book just kept on keeping on. And Dax annoyed me, I’m just going to leave that here.
Indigo “Indie” Chase & Dax Reed. His bestie: Blake Johnson. Her bestie: TamekaHer daughter: Daisy, named after “The Great Gastby’s” Daisy.A bank teller and an intriguing customer she has never met bond quickly when armed robbers storm the bank and Dax shelters Indie and her daughter Daisy with his body. A long bloody standoff ends with one “customer”, Indie’s ex-husband, dead and three injured. Two of the four bank robbers are dead, one was caught. The fourth got away, last seen dragging a bleedin...
I cried so many tears. I mean that doesn’t exactly mean much because it’s soooo much easier to make me cry than laugh. I wasn’t expecting a bit of suspense. Because I didn’t even read the blurb before reading this. I just trust I’ll enjoy anything Jennifer writes. She has yet to fail me. I loved the chemistry between Dax & Indie. The story flowed so well. I never found myself bored or like can this end already?! I enjoyed it from start to finish. My only complaints are 1. The time jump. 2. The l...
