KU Review Always fun and absurd and packed with action. But also heartbreaking undertones that make you anxious about how it’s all going to end. As the title says this is a review for Kindle Unlimited and as such is a reflection of my enjoyment of the book and in no way reflects cost to value analysis.
One of the best LitRPG novels I've ever readI read alot of LitRPG. I mean ALOT of LitRPG!!! My favorites always have well written action and some funny banter between the characters and some cultural references that make me laugh. This series also has some incredibly well written really emotional parts that got me tearing up. I won't be able to put into words how good this book is, so I will just end this rambling review with this... The title of my little rant says this is "one of the best LitRP...
Another great addition to the series. I have nothing bad to say about DCC. Each book is a treat and I am always on the edge of my seat for more.
just great This is a great book, a great series, and a great writer. A must read for fans of good books!
The sixth floor of the dungeon is called The Hunting Grounds. Carl, Donut, and the other crawlers must not only contend with monsters, but with actual hunters who paid to come in. And many of those hunters have their sights set on Carl. Carl refuses to let the crawlers be victims to these hunters and sets into motion plans to turn the tables. Yet nothing ever goes as planned in the dungeon, and it may be that the only way he can assure Donut and the others survive is by sacrificing himself. This
twisty tragic and traumatic Yeah, idk what you've been through Matt, but it must be some tragic stuff to go with this plot. This is book 5 and after Carl went full murder-Hobo in the previous book he has become the wildcard of crawl and ire to all its sponsors. It's honestly much better than the 3rd and fourth entries, but it also has become more muddled due to the large cast of characters, personalities, aliens, lore, and generally great quest lines. Unfortunately a lot of the ridiculous plans
Holy Incel Goblins! That was…wow! It was epic, it had drama, world building, it gave you a depth of information that was the most satisfying read of 2022 so far. I am impressed and I read A Lot. Now for the not so sunshine parts, the book is a great story and most of the esoteric stuff is well done, there is a problem with scale and it getting missed or not as focused on that can cause some confusion, it’s a minor thing that isn’t worth talking about really, but if you are not focused on the book...
AmazingThis was the best book of the series so far. I loved it and can't wait for the next one.
Another excellent floor (Spoilers Ahead)WARNING: Spoilers Ahead!*****Carl and crew, fresh from clearing the fifth floor and unleashing a slew of gods in the previous book have started on Floor 6. The Hunting Grounds allow non-crawlers to enter the dungeon as Hunters. As one might expect the Hunters become the hunted.Carl starts at level 47 and makes it to 63 during this book, while Donut goes from 39 to 55. Carl specializes and Donut becomes a singer for this level. We get a bit more universe bui...
More of the good stuff. The genre usually relies on silly jokes, cutesy animal companions, pop culture references, and either unnecessary specialisation or spectacular violence. This has it all in spades. What is also has is a layered and interesting world where the wider picture we are receiving feels real and relatable, whilst being universe-spanning Sci-Fi. The game world of the crawl has interesting rules, and the Perverse AI slowly going rogue adds even more peril and tension to the fight-for-...
As always, Dinniman leaves me impressed.Starting these books, I was caught by the idea of the story and the humor of it. As it’s gone on, the humor has stayed throughout, but there has also been so much more added. We’ve seen loss among the crawlers before, and some of the backlash of how they deal with it. But this book really took a raw look at the emotional and mental toll the crawl has taken on people as they continue to have to make horrendous choices and lose those they care about. This bo...
Great readI have to say my expectations of these books are off the charts. The first four books were 5 stars. This one was really good but it was more 4 stars to 4.5. As a stand alone it was good. After book 4 (my favorite) I felt this was a touch weaker. Basically I got a bit confused here and there by what had occurred. Or rather how it occurred. Also a bit to much explaining (dark bold writing bits). These complaints are minor. The book was another great addition. I find myself haunted by aut...
I reread the last 4 books before this one. I’m glad I did there are a lot of characters and quirks that may not seem important in book 3 but become important here in book 5. Book 5 is the culmination of the previous books and I didn’t think I’d enjoy it as much as the others but this book showed a lot of character growth with the secondary characters (who thought a goat would show any growth besides screaming at random things). I will say that I was going to give the book 4 stars but the last fe...
