This is a collection of short stories, poetry, and essays by John M Ford, and it's a great selection that demonstrates the breadth of his capability as well as its depth. "Playing Scrabble with God" and "Walkaway Clause" in particular both stand out to me, but everything in here is good.

The reader can tell that the author is a very smart man, a polymath and a renaissance man - well versed in many areas of science and history.
