I cannot tell you why I returned to this book after reading like 20% of it last month and then putting it down, but last night I did, and then I just …. Finished it?? And I didn’t even like it that much ?!??? What was she on? I think I mostly just wanted to see how on earth this bonkers premise played out. Ya it was a lil weird but had some heart. Really basic and easy read, thanks berk for the ARC LOL
The Dead Romantics was an absolute and unexpected delight. Voicy and quirky and fun; the pages will probably sparkle (but with black glitter).
Review coming soon.
I loved this quirky supernatural sorta romance. Adorably romantic and an absolute pleasure to read. Ashley Poston is officially on my watch list.
Florence is a ghostwriter with a severe case of writer’s block when she meets Ben, her handsome but thorny new editor. When her father dies, she must go home to bury him, but when she gets there she finds the ghost of Ben, who is also now dead. Florence now must help Ben figure out what his unfinished business is, while trying not to fall in love with a ghost and planning her father’s funeral. This is a great contemporary romance that has a very unique twist with a satisfying and sweet ending. I...
A very charming and heartfelt novel, I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was a very quick read, and exceptionally well written. I was drawn in right away, and found this story to be almost unputdownable.I would have liked to have gotten to know Ben even better, though, and I personally would have enjoyed a little more angst surrounding the romance with a ghost and how it would resolve in a HEA.

I LOOOOOVED this book I loved the Reylo feels it gave me (BENJI! ROSE! This is the weirdest, cutest, most fun book I've read in a long time. Also, it made me cry.The Dead Romantics in some ways reminds me of The Haunting of Hill House (the Netflix adaptation), but replace the horror with comedy. Hear me out:- Ghosts- returning to a home/home town you fled from- Family dynamics- a family holding the funeral for their own family member- Themes of griefThe key difference is that The Haunting of Hill House would follow a tear-jerking scene with a jump scare, and The De...
This is kind of book you want to reread when you feel sad, hopeless, overwhelmed, looking for a sign to promise you things will get better! I love everything about this book! The smart, sarcastic tone of the author, the development of most adorable and awkward and so much lovable family members and execution of paranormal love story! Everything was amazing!Let’s discuss the plot by starting Florence’s ultra eccentric family: Florence Day’s family is not Six Feet Under’s Fisher Family or Adams Fa...

✨ParaNAUGHTY Activity✨Alternative intros:✨Romance may be dead but the pining in my pants is ALIVE✨She died as she lived: Reading about a horny ghost.✨Haunt me with your ghost boner✨Who ya gonna call? Ghostfuckers✨Benji the Horny GhostHi this book destroyed my life but in a hot way. All I know is that my full review will come later because I still need to process what I read. I haven’t cried this much because of a book in probably two years. Did I have “ghost rolling up shirtsleeves to expose mus...
Oh noooo, I really did not like this book, which is such an absolute _bummer_ because the general overarching concept is such a chef's kiss. Besotted ghosts & a romance novelist? Please, sign me right up. But wow, did that execution fail. I wanted more BBC Ghosts vibes and instead got...a slog. Guys, what are these 5 star reviews? Did we read the same book? Has your only introduction to literature been bad fanfiction and hearing Rory talk about literature on Gilmore Girls? Because honestly, this...
Huge thanks to @berkleyromance for this gifted ARC copy of The Dead Romantics! I so look forward to when Berkley romances arrive in my inbox each month and I immediately chose this one to read based on the beautifully vibrant cover, the intriguing title and the ghostly, yet romantic premise! This was such a fun, refreshing, and unique romance and I devoured every single page. We follow our MC, Florence, as she struggles to finish a highly anticipated romance novel that she ghostwrites for- all u...
This was one of those books that I absolutely adored, from start to finish. It was the timing of the read along with the quirkiness of Florence and her budding relationship with Ben that drew me in.These two had a rough introduction, with Ben taking a hard stance on Florence's deadline (she's a ghostwriter for a beloved romance writer) on her latest manuscript, but their "relationship" really grew when she was back home for her father's funeral. I enjoyed Florence learning to let go of everythin...
This is a terrific read. Warm family background, ghosts, love despite exes, and the struggle to push through to your real self and potential. This book's strong love story lives and succeeds through magic. SUCH a great read. I was drawn in by Florence and Benji and their growing relationship through all the obstacles of the publishing industry and family loss and re-establishing connections. A unique story arc, and an excellent job of writing to meet the expectations of that arc - I loved it all....
Haunting and happy are two adjectives I never thought I would ascribe together to a single tale, and yet here I am. I have felt so many emotions at the hands of this book. While ensconced in its pages death wasn’t scary, love conquered all, and the wind whispered to me. I will be seeing the ghost of this story for the rest of my days, and I couldn’t be more pleased.
