Pretty good. I'm not much of a comic person but it was readable. But jeez, these girls are annoying! They just fight about everything and two of them sometimes team up on poor Gabby :(. I wouldn't like friends like that.
Loved this new graphic novel, and excited to see it’ll be a series! I’ve seen it marketed as The Babysitters Club with pets, and I absolutely agree. Gabby, Priya, and Mindy are three BFFs who adore pets but can’t actually own them. After a few failed attempts to secure some doggo time, they find that their neighborhood is in need of afternoon dog walkers. BOOM! Paws, their business, is born! But…running a business isn’t as easy as it looks, and soon the three besties are fighting about everythin...
This is a good story about three girls figuring out friendship and responsibilities even as they solve their biggest problem: not being able to have pets of their own.The artwork is lovely. The characters all have their own personalities that show how people who are different can still be friends.A nice story with some good life lessons.
Thanks to netgalley for the advanced copy! This was really cute and perfect for fans of babysitters club but with puppies! It also has important things that kids go through as they're learning to be responsible, good friends and their own little people! This will be great for our collection.
Holy heck this was precious. It seemed aimed a little younger than the usual middle-grade graphic novels, but it was fun and energetic; great art and colours, terrific writing, fun characters, and a super wholesome story. Honestly, my absolute favourite thing were the Instagram posts at the end (and Gabby's dad commenting on every picture haha, it was a nice touch.) This was just too cute for words, and I will read any book about these Pretty Awesome WalkerS.
Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Books for the review copy of this book. PAWS by Nathan Fairbairn is a really cute book. It is reminiscent of the Babysitters Club books by Ann M. Martin, as the main character and her friends start a club business. In this book, the girls decide that walking dogs is the best way to be able to get some time to hang out with dogs since they are unable to have pets. Throughout the graphic novel, there are many problems the girls must troubleshoot, and their parent...
This will be a new favorite series for readers. It's billed as a Babysitters Club for dogs and that is exactly it. Three friends dog walking multiple dogs. What could go wrong? The big problem I have with this one is the Asian character being illustrated with half-moon eyes when she's laughing and just black circles when she's showing extreme emotion. Not. Ok.
Absolutely wonderful! Basically a middle-grade graphic novel similar to Babysitter’s Club but with a focus on three young girls who start a dog walking business together. Wholesome, relatable, and a whole lot of fun.
Marketed as Babysitter's Club for dog lovers.
Thank you to Penguin Random House and Razorbill for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.Gabby, Priya, and Mindy are best friends in a mixed grade school in Vancouver. They have different families and activities but the one thing they have in common is a love for animals. None of the girls is allowed to have a pet for different reasons. When brainstorming ideas of how to spend time with animals, the one idea that works is a dog walking service. And since none of the...
This was super cute!!! Gabby, Priya and Mindy are BFF's and they LOVE animals. None of them can own a pet for different reasons so they come up with a solution. These 3 girls team up to make their very own dog walking business and call it Paws. It starts out small, but slowly they get more clients. And with the business growing so do the problems. The girls must work together to come up with solutions with the help of their parents and most importantly each other. This graphic novel is sure to b...
I am *crazy* about Katie the Catsitter so Paws: Gabby Gets it Together will be perfect to hand kids when they finish the KtC duo and beg for more! Friendship, pets, & teamwork - plus loved the brilliance of a fashion montage in a graphic novel! (The themes of apologizing & forgiveness - plus TONS of adorable puppy scenes - are bonuses!)
Gabby and her friends Priya and Mindy LOVE dogs and animals. However, none of them can have animals for various reasons: allergies, OCD fathers, the apartment complex doesn't allow pets. So pets being them together in that way. They bonded over pictures and videos. So when Gabby comes up with the idea to walk some of the neighborhood dogs to help with their addiction - her friends are game to help! They wind up with 8 dogs on their weekly walk list. What could go wrong with walking dogs with you...
GET THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL!Reminds me of babysitters club- BUT- pet-sitting, set in Canada, great diverse cast of characters! LOVE LOVE LOVE how modern this story is, how realistic, how fun, funny, and also heartwarming. Cannot WAIT for more from these illustrators and authors. Grades 3-7 will LOVE!
E ARC provided by Edelweiss PlusIn this graphic novel, Gabby and her friends Priya Gupta and Mindy Kim LOVE animals, but can't have pets because of family allergies or living arrangements. They decide that watching YouTube videos of animals isn't enough, and they need to try to intereact with real animals. They try searching their neighborhood for animals who need to be rescued, to no avail, are turned away from volunteering at a shelter because they are too young, and decide that volunteering a...
I love this story! It shows the complexity of friendship when kids aren't into the same things. Three girls who all have different interests and abilities share a common bond over animals. The illustrations are beautiful, the girls and other characters are inclusive POC and the story is completely relatable for all ages who are into animals and graphic novels.
Babysitter’s Club but with dogs! So cute and really funny.
ARC courtesy of the publisher. What a fun start to a new graphic novel series! Gabby and her friends Priya and Mindy love animals but all have a reason they can't have their own pets. After a run in with a pickle loving dog and her owner, the girls decide to start their own dog sitting business. But running a business isn't all fun all the time, even if it is one with the cutest clients. The characters are well defined and I can't wait to see more of them. What really stood out to me was the real...
One of the best middle grade graphic novels I’ve read! I might be biased, since it’s set where I live in Vancouver Canada- but I LOVE it!Dogs, friendship, girls starting a business, family, responsibility, trust, telling the truth, communication, sports, committing to something…. The list goes on with all the great topics this graphic novel unpacks! Amazing illustrations, great, diverse characters, and awesome story! Now I need book TWO!
More like 3.5 stars. I would like to thank edelweiss and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I loved the art in the graphic novel, it was bright and colourful and made the story come alive. When a group of 3 friends start a dog walking business, will it bring them closer together or tear them apart? Can't wait to read the next one.
