I would have liked this story to be longer, not just in the sense that I want more of stories I like, but because there is a whole society of people left unexplored. How do you transition into that world once you've been cured? How to do intact with its values? The story felt cramped.
A nice short story set in the wayfarers universe. Contains many little tidbits which make me sad about the fact that Chambers has stopped writing in that universe (at least for now).
What’s there is literal perfection, but I would sell my left leg if this could be turned into a whole novel. A note: check the book out from your local library to avoid buying an anthology for one short story, unless you’re into that. It’s totally worth paying for the whole thing to read this one story though.
Really loved this beautiful story. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the Wayfarers world and is interested in learning more about the Sianet. It can be read in full here.
i will read anything becky chambers writes until the end of time - and yes i found this anthology just to read this story and nothing else
You better believe I bought a $14 anthology just so I could read one short story.
This was great because Sianats were extremely mysterious to me in the first Wayfarer book. I'm utterly devastated to now be completely out of Wayfarer books. I could honestly read 100 books in this series.
A mini entry to the Wayfarers books that colors in some of the unanswered questions about the sianat featured in book 1. I wish I'd read this closer to finishing book 1 as I know there's overlap there but I barely remember it, but this was still very enjoyable and very quick.
i can feel it as the start of something greater, so am really excited!!!
A beautiful addition to the Wayfarers collection. Readers are treated to more details of Sinat culture and lifestyle from the perspective of someone who feels like an outsider in their own species. Though briefly met, the characters in this short story sing in the dimensions given to them through their interactions.
